Lindgren withdraws for weekend

Friday 20th June 2008, 5:30AM BST.

lindgren.jpegWolverhampton skipper Freddie Lindgren has been forced to withdraw from his World Championship qualifier tomorrow with rib injuries.

Lindgren crashed heavily in the Danish Grand Prix last weekend and spent Saturday night in hospital where he was told he had “squeezed” his rib-cage.

He said: “I haven’t had any progress yet and my ribs feel just like on Sunday. I have a lot of pain and still can’t breathe normally.

“I have made a decision not to race any meetings this week, so it means I will miss my meeting with Zielona Gora tonight and my GP Qualifier in Italy this weekend.

“It’s a big blow but that’s the way it is and I hope to heal as quickly as possible.”

Wolves face Eastbourne tomorrow in Knockout Cup action and will use the rider-replacement facility to cover for Lindgren.

The return is at Monmore Green on Monday.
