The funeral date of Cannock’s top Elvis fan and community fundraiser has finally been set.

Eunice Fitch’s family have lost their campaign to get permission to have her buried in Christ Church, Gentleshaw.

They were refused permission because she lived just outside the parish boundary, but appealed to the Queen and Archbishop of Canterbury to make an exception for the 65-year-old.

But now her funeral is set to take place on June 24, with the service at St Luke’s Church, Cannock and her burial at Stile Cop Cemetery in Rugeley. More details are expected to be released next week.

Her son, Pat Fitch said: “The service will be open to whoever wants to come and pay their last respects.”

Mrs Fitch, mother-of-four, who died in April, had suffered from poor health over recent years and underwent a bowel operation from which she was recovering in hospital when she died.

She was renowned for raising thousands of pounds at her charity concerts, as well as her annual display Christmas lights event in aid of Cancer Research at her Elvis shrine house in Danby Drive, Prospect Village.

Dubbed Graceland after his Memphis mansion her collection of memorabilia included statues, neon lights and a gold bust of the King.
