Wolves rev up for basement battle
Monday 9th June 2008, 8:45AM BST.
Wolves will look to boost the morale of both their riders and fans in tonight’s bottom-of-the-table clash with Peterborough at Monmore Green (7.30pm).
The side has suffered two defeats in their last three home matches and their visit to Lakeside last week fell victim to the weather, delaying Kenneth Hansen’s return following his crash in Finland.
Wolves bring in 2007 British Grand Prix winner Chris Harris to deputise for Niels Kristian Iversen, while Ales Dryml will hope to build on the flashes of form shown in last week’s defeat to Swindon.
Skipper Freddie Lindgren enjoyed an improved performance for his Polish side Zielona Gora yesterday, scoring nine points, while Christian Hefenbrock will ride on despite picking up an injury in a crash in his homeland.
The German tangled with Peterborough’s Morten Risager during a heat of the European Championship semi-final at Herxheim, but recovered to finish third overall despite a hand injury.
Risager was not so lucky, being excluded from the rerun and having to withdraw from the rest of the meeting.
The Dane will also be absent from tonight’s match for the Panthers. It is understood that Edinburgh’s Ryan Fisher, who performed well guesting for the Panthers at Swindon last week in place of Henrik Moller, could replace him.
Redcar’s Ty Proctor comes in at reserve for the visitors in place of Moller, while GP star Hans Andersen and young Englishman Daniel King will spearhead the side.
Wolves: Freddie Lindgren, Ales Dryml, Chris Harris, Nicolai Klindt, David Howe, Christian Hefenbrock, Kenneth Hansen.
Peterborough: Hans Andersen, Henning Bager, Kenneth Bjerre R/R, Claus Vissing, Daniel King, Ryan Fisher (probable), Ty Proctor.
