100th Brit killed in Afghanistan

Monday 9th June 2008, 7:02AM BST.

wd2512959british-troops-in.jpgThree British soldiers have been killed in Afghanistan, taking the number of UK troops killed there to 100 since 2001.

The men, from 2nd Battalion the Parachute Regiment, were on foot patrol near their Helmand Province base when they were killed in a suicide attack.

Brigadier Mark Carleton-Smith, commander of British forces in Helmand Province, said the foot patrol was returning to base through some villages when it was attacked by a single suicide bomber.

Another man was injured in the blast. Their next of kin have been informed.

Defence Secretary Des Browne said his thoughts were with the loved ones of the 100 “courageous” personnel.

i must admit we do need to sort the taliban out but give our troops the best kit possible, instead of giving everything to lowlife prisoners in our cosy prisons, give it to our fighting forces out there doing a great job for queen and country,so r.i.p. young angels of our ONCE great nation.

Got to have a war to keep our armed forces in work. Sounds synical and yes it is but there aint no war worth the lives of our soldiers. Afganistan is a created and political war that will continue forever or untill public opinion goes against it. It’s not about Mr Laden he is no where near Afganistan. It’s about politics and money with terrorism used as an excuse! Where are the USA? No where to be seen especially as they started it.
