Harriers in for defender Wylde

Thursday 29th May 2008, 8:36AM BST.

Kidderminster manager Mark Yates has admitted that he is in talks to sign released Cheltenham defender Michael Wylde.

The 21-year-old is fresh in the mind of the Harriers boss after he finished the last month of the season on loan at Aggborough, with one start against Histon and a further substitute appearance.

He returned to Whaddon Road only to be promptly released and has now begun negotiations with the Harriers. Yates feels that his addition would further add to his impressive defensive options, which already include the likes of Mark Creighton and Luke Jones for next term.

He said: “I have been speaking to Michael. I was very impressed with him towards the end of last season. I am speaking to him and his agent and we will see where we are, like we will with a number of other targets.

“There will be a few more coming in. I am starting to feel optimistic and I feel there is a good reason to be.”
