Grand Prix ace Harris sent to Wolves
Wednesday 28th May 2008, 10:57AM BST.
Wolves have called up Grand Prix star Chris Harris to replace the injured Niels Kristian Iversen for their visit to Belle Vue this evening.
Iversen suffered a dislocated shoulder after crashing in the Swedish GP on Saturday, while skipper Freddie Lindgren took an heroic second place in the final after scoring a 15-point maximum in his heats.
Contests between Wolves and tonight’s rivals are traditionally close and Monday night at Monmore was no different, with the Aces pushing the home side all the way.
Wolves eventually won 48-45 after a fine encounter.
Coventry skipper Harris should be a fast and reliable guest for the Wolves and a fine spearhead to the side alongside Lindgren and Ales Dryml, who scored well when the Wolves visited Kirkmanshulme Lane in the Craven Shield on Good Friday.
Belle Vue are expected to include Billy Forsberg, who was a late withdrawal from Monday’s match after a hand injury proved slow to heal.
The Wolves will be hoping for a continuation in Kenneth Hansen’s upturn in form over the last two matches, while Nicolai Klindt enjoyed his Belle Vue track debut in March, when he took a clear win in the penultimate race. He should be a force to be reckoned with from the number four slot.
The home side will hope that Joe Screen has rectified his mechanical problems from Monday, while Lukasz Jankowski also returns to the side. Both sides will also doubtlessly be praying that the weather in Manchester stays dry following a period of showers over the last few days.
Tapes go up at Kirkmanshulme Lane at 7.30pm.
Belle Vue: Jason Crump, Billy Forsberg, Charlie Gjedde, Lukasz Jankowski, Joe Screen, Nick Simmons, Jonas Raun.
Wolves: Freddie Lindgren, Ales Dryml, Chris Harris, Nicolai Klindt, David Howe, Christian Hefenbrock, Kenneth Hansen.
