Smash misery on M6

Spaghetti junctionMotorists using the M6 through the West Midlands were hit by rush-hour delays in both directions today.

A crash between a van and a car shortly before 5am near Spaghetti Junction saw two lanes closed southbound between junction 5 for Castle Bromwich and junction six for Birmingham city centre, with one person injured.

Meanwhile, two northbound lanes and the slip road at junction nine for Wednesbury were shut after a lorry shed its load of two-ton metal coils at around 7.40am.
