Wolves hope to find magic potion

Monday 19th May 2008, 10:51AM BST.

After a week’s break from Elite League action, Wolves will look to get back to winning ways tonight as they take on Ipswich at Monmore Green.

The side will be eager to hit back against the Witches following a 53-38 defeat at Foxhall Heath eleven days ago, with Wolves’ second strings and reserves struggling slightly and in need of a revival.

Skipper Freddie Lindgren guested for the Witches in their victory at Eastbourne on Saturday night, scoring paid 12 points in a fine performance which should put him right back into form for tonight’s encounter.

Saturday’s first round of the Danish championships saw a fine performance from Niels Kristian Iversen as he scored 12 points at Holsted to qualify for the final, finishing fourth in a race won by World
Championship leader Nicki Pedersen.

Nicolai Klindt also battled gamely, scoring nine points to finish eighth overall.

Klindt and countryman Kenneth Hanse have been performing well in the Danish league, the former scoring paid 19 for Outrup in last week’s win over Brovst while Hansen chalked up a paid 11 for Fjelsted.

It is hoped that David Howe will have fully recovered from the knee and shoulder injuries he suffered in the Wolves’ home defeat to Coventry a fortnight ago, although they did not prove a handicap to him in Germany seven days ago when he qualified for the semi-finals of the 2009 Grand Prix qualifiers.

Ipswich will track Eastbourne’s Edward Kennett as a guest for broken-arm victim Chris Louis, while their restructured line-up sees Tobi Kroner move to a heat leader position with Pole Piotr Swiderski sure to be a danger at reserve.

Tapes go up at Monmore Green at 7.30pm.

Wolves: Freddie Lindgren, Ales Dryml, Niels Kristian Iversen, Nicolai Klindt, David Howe, Christian Hefenbrock, Kenneth Hansen.

Ipswich: Edward Kennett, Robert Miskowiak, Tobi Kroner, Steve Johnston, Jarek Hampel, Piotr Swiderski, Chris Schramm.
