Wolves winger Michael Kightly has withdrawn from the England under-21s squad to play Wales tonight at Wrexham with an ankle injury.

The 22-year-old went over on his ankle two days before Wolves’ final game of the season against Plymouth 11 days ago and he hasn’t made a full recovery.

“I trained twice with the under-21s on Tuesday and it still didn’t feel right,” said Kightly.

“It wouldn’t do me, the ankle or the squad any favours if I went out only 70 per cent fit, so I pulled out.

“I’m disappointed, not only because I was going to miss out on another cap, but also as I had the chance of coming up against my Wolves team-mates Wayne Hennessey and David Edwards.”

Just make sure you’re fit and raring to go for the new season; look what happened last season when you were missing for far too long!!
Here’s to a full and speedy recovery!!

Well if he went over on it before the Plymouth game and its still not right why on earth did he play, a fit striker may have got us the goals we needed

Feel sorry for your disappointment but that had to be the right decision. Good luck for a speedy recovery. Just get ready for August. Next season is yours!

Have a good summer Kites. We know the Baggies are in the Prem but our Manager is a TV star. Eat your heart out Mr Mowbury.

Our club has a terrible history of injuries to players in pre-season. Mark Davies, Vio Ganea and Denes Rosa are 3 of the most recent ones to suffer injuries that kept them out for more or less the whole season.

Let’s hope Kites is fit and raring to go!

    Love the carsberg ad.

I like the bit where MM say “not great options are they”… was he reading his team sheet ?

He didnt want to injure the ankle any more, because it risk putting a halt on a big money move to The Prem !

Notice that he didn’t include Freddy Eastwood as one of his team-mates. Maybe the rumors of a fall out between Eastwood and the rest of the team are true.

I hope this ankle thing doesn’t continue to plague him, we’ve had enough bad luck with injury’s the past few years.

Let it go, only reason he did’nt mention Freddy is because it’s the U21′s..

    Freddy is’nt in that squad.

Anyway, he’s on his way, i think we all need to let this go now, to be honest. It’s getting a bit boring !!

I hope I’m wrong but I am concerned Kites isn’t ever going to reach his full potentital because of injuries.

He seems to be one of these players who is injury prone.

Don’t worry about Kightly, he will be another teams injury problem soon!

Mick Moxey will sort the finances and Jez McCarthy will sort the team – with a double act that good we can’t fail!

So, Sicknote writes a new chapter in his book of “Why I don’t play more than 20 games a season”.

If the Greed League don’t hoover him up as a benchwarmer, wait for the wailing and gnashing of teeth at Moulinex when he fails next season.

The stupidity of rushing him back from injury to play 20 minutes or so against that power-house team Cambridge United in January has probably not helped his ankle problems to recover correctly.

Let’s hope that he is fit and raring to go in August

wolves you have a great injury probe player,
next year every hard tackle will have him out for 5 or 6 games, there you go Mad MM has is excuse aready. No good having great players if they are injured all the time, never mind S Ward is now match fit and Mad MM will make him first choice
    staying down the MM way.

Bhatti Brothers just disappear. You’re the reason people like Keogh say what they do and why people like Kightly are luke-warm about the crowd. No wonder Wolves are the laughing stock and I can’t see us succeeding while people like you destroy people like Keogh with these kind of comments. No one succeeds with all this negativity…..just look at Gerrard for England compared to Liverpool…..and you wonder why Keogh said what he did. SUPPORT WHOEVER WEARS THE SHIRT…

Its great when your ream is winning and you can sit back and mock at your rivals expense.

However you may also keep the thought at the back of your mind that the team you support is only a small club punching above their weight and sooner or later the boot will be on the other foot and then you will reap the whirlwind!

So enjoy it while it lasts!
