Police were called to the scene at 8pm.

Single mum Donna Simmons, aged 23, today said she was horrified to see the victim lying on the floor outside her block of flats.

And she said she believed the man had been stabbed in front of children playing outside.

She said: “There were kids playing in the communal gardens. I could see a man being treated by paramedics.

“He seemed to be sitting up and seemed to have bandages around his back and his stomach.”

The victim was taken to hospital where he was in a stable condition this afternoon. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Police are planning to interview more witnesses today.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Ser-vice said crews were on scene within five minutes and the man was taken to Sandwell District Hospital.

Police are appealing for anyone with information, or who was in the area at the time, to contact CID at West Bromwich on 0845 113 5000.
