Kightly out to end on winning note
Saturday 3rd May 2008, 12:27PM BST.
Michael Kightly admits he is envious of his award-winning team mates as he bids to extend his injury-wrecked season tomorrow.
The England Under 21 wide man, who celebrated a recall to Stuart Pearce’s squad this week after recovering from injury, is a ball of frustration after missing the bulk of the Championship campaign with ankle problems.
He is hoping Wolves can grab their lifeline tomorrow with victory over Plymouth and a helping hand from one of the results affecting the two teams above them, Crystal Palace and Watford. “It would mean missing the England game because we were in the Play Offs and that would be fine by me,” said Kightly, who was called up on Monday to play against Wales in Wrexham in a fortnight.
“I was at the awards dinner this week and it just reminded me how much of the season I had missed.
“I would have loved to have been up there on the podium. Last year, I was runner up and it would have meant a lot to me to have gone one step further this year. That was one of my goals for this season.”

5. albion have not done it easily, they have struggled like the rest of us. they are up there but they are just the best out of this poor league where no-one can pick up form… apart from Hull haha.

So how should we read into ‘END on winning note’? End of Wolves’ season, end of Kightly as a Wolves player. Could be both!
