Enthusiasts from across the Midlands are preparing their vehicles for the 10th Classic Car and Transport Show, which takes place in front of Catton Hall, just off the A38 at Alrewas, between Lichfield and Burton, over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Some 800 classic cars will be on display on Sunday, with some exhibits dating as far back as the early 1920s.

Most famous marques will be represented, including Rover, Ford, Riley, MG, Austin, Singer, Triumph, Morris and Wolseley.

One of the show stoppers will be the iconic car of the 1980s that travelled backwards and forwards through time in the Back To The Future movies.

The famous 1981 silver DeLorean will be joined by custom and kit cars, 30 American cars, commercials, motorcycles, alongside the 34 car club stands including Jaguar enthusiasts, MG owners, Rover P5, Stag owners, and Capri owners.

Other features of the show include trade and autojumble stands, children’s inflatables and catering and bar.

In the main arena will be the Piston Rings Youth Motorcycle Display Team, making a welcome return to Catton. They will perform three times in the main arena, showing off their skills and precision in motorbike riding.

Fire fighters will demonstrate their equipment and fire safety procedures.

Catton Hall itself will be open between 12 noon and 3.00pm, at extra cost. The event has been organised by West Midlands-based Transtar Promotions.

Spokesman Geoff Price said he was hoping up to 3,000 car fans would attend.

“It was freezing cold at our last event at Weston Park over Easter, so we are hoping for better weather this weekend,” he said.

Admission to the show, which includes free on-site car parking, is £5 for adults, £4 for OAPs and £2 for children.

Gates open at 10.30am.
