Wolves boosted by new shirt deal

Tuesday 29th April 2008, 11:29AM BST.

wd583154shirt-nb-5.jpgWolves have received a major end of season boost with the announcement Chaucer Consulting has renewed its multi-million pound main club sponsorship deal.

The global consultancy business has been Wolves’ main sponsor since May 2004 and has signed a new one-year contract until the end of season 2008-09.

Wolves chief executive, Jez Moxey said: “Bob Laslett and Chaucer have provided tremendous support to Wolves since becoming our main club sponsor four years ago.

“In addition to their financial investment, the company has provided expert help and advice to our business.

“Bob’s invitation onto the board was unanimously supported by the directors.

“His extensive business experience, combined with his passion for the club as a fan, is already proving invaluable.”

“We’re delighted Chaucer and Bob Laslett are remaining on board as the club moves forward into a new and exciting era under the ownership of Steve Morgan.”

Chaucer Consulting was set-up in 1987 by lifelong Wolves fan, Bob Laslett.

Since then the company has grown into an internationally renowned management consultancy with offices in North America, Europe, Middle East and the Asia-Pacific.

Laslett, who was appointed to the Wolves board of directors in January, said: “Chaucer Consulting is proud to be associated with such a wonderful club and I’m personally honoured to have been made a director.”

Wolves’ first and reserve team shirts will carry a new distinctive, yet familiar, Chaucer brand – chaucer consulting.com.

The newly designed home kit is due to be unveiled at the club’s end of season awards dinner, sponsored by GCI coms, on Thursday at the Ramada hotel, Goldthorn.

Chaucer replaced Doritos as the club’s main sponsor following relegation from the Premier League in 2004. The initial two-year deal was believed to have been worth around £2m to Wolves.

Trouble is that Duracell are recognised as the best brand of their industry.

    NETTO’s own batteries would suit.

Let’s hope if things dont work out Sunday, they get Paul Ince in and his first call is to Freddy to try and get him to stay.

I wondered who Chaucer were when they first came on board. Ok they may not be a global household name, but they are a global name in management consulting circles which is pretty damn good. Also, to be sponsored by the organisation of a lifelong fan is pretty damn good too.
Look around at other clubs – there are loads out there with regional or little-known sponsors – surely it the cash they provide that counts, not their name.
Great to have you on board again Chaucer and thanks for your support.

Come on wolves fans search harder on the internet and you will find pictures of the new kit. The skin tight look is in, lose weight or buy the bigger size.

£2m is hardly multimillion is it, shows how not far we have gone if we cannot attract a sponsor willing to invest more than this in us. For all the positives coming out of the boardroom I still think at this moment in time we are going nowhere. The CTO just milks us as does the board, SM goes to Liverpool matches instead. I think he will in time get us into the Prem then sell us for a profit. I don’t think there are great times ahead of us at all. Hope I’m wrong but I think wholesale changes are required
