Elections are ‘vulnerable to fraud’

Monday 28th April 2008, 8:34AM BST.

Ballot boxElections in this country fall short of international standards with the system vulnerable to fraud, a report by the Joseph Rowntree Reform Trust has claimed.

Measures to improve choice for voters – such as postal and electronic voting – are actually risking the integrity of the electoral process, it said.

The government says it has taken significant steps to protect the electoral process.

The report comes ahead of Thursday’s local elections in England and Wales.

It has been proven that postal voting in immigrant communities is open to sustained abuse. Strange how they aspire to the order and fair play of our Country yet they are not prepared to follow our election principles.
