Wolves 3 Cardiff 0

Tuesday 22nd April 2008, 9:52PM BST.

wolvesbadge.jpgWolves gave their play-off chances a huge boost with a 3-0 victory against Cardiff at Molineux.

They took command from early on against the cup finalists and scored through Keogh, Ebanks-Blake and Kightly.

The win moves Mick McCarthy’s men up to seventh in the table with just two games remaining.

Great win, fantastic… but isn’t it amazing? The only time we’ve wom by a three goal margin all season is when we played Watford’s reserves in the FA Cup (you may remember they beat us with their first team the following week). Why leave it until it’s probably out of our hands until they can “put in a shift”, as McMistifying likes to call it..?

What a surprise, where did that come from? All season we have been looking for this!

I still think that it is too little, too late. We are relying on other teams failing, for us to get into the playoffs. Not a healthy option.

However, thanks team, we needed some sort of pride restoration!

Who cares if it’s too late. If we don’t go up this year look at the prospect of next season. We have finally got a genuine 20+ goal a season striker in SEB. None of our stars will be leaving and with our youngsters, Little, Davies, Dan Jones and the rest to come back from loan spells, I look forward to seeing us in the top two all next season.

We beat Cardiff 3-0. Had we beaten Real Madrid 3-0 it would still amount to the same thing, and that is if we don’t make the playoffs, then McCarthy has failed and failure should mean the sack. But after reading Moxey’s recent comments, I fear we are for more of the same. It’s like waking up from a nightmare only to be promised you’re going to have the same nightmare the following night.

no biggie. season over already, only terrifying question is, are we stuck with thick mick next season.

on the plus, great to see Kightly netting, he surely is a marvel. Well done son. May you score many more, hopefully for us.

Fred. Well, if the contract with Coventry/Norwich/Derby/Whoever isnt already signed, then falling behind Elliot in the pecking order will surely have you picking up the phone tonight. I will always wonder what if, Im sure you will score for fun against us next season.

The Pro/Anti mick debate is surely one of the hottest topics on internet blogs, and we are all certainly entitled to our opinions, personally it sickens me to think we might have to endure another dire, demoralising, and desperate season under the delusional muppet.

I hope someone behind the scenes has a clue.

Yesterday’s rubbish being spouted by Wolves fans about how Keogh was a “disgrace” to the club was unbelievable. The guy tries his heart out as do the rest of the players.
When premiership clubs come in for our top players in the summer can we really expect them to turn down the money and challenge to stay at a club where the “fans” won’t support them but will boo instead? I don’t think so.

Eastwood doesn`t get a chance to score cos he doesn`t get a chance to play!!!! Look at last night 3.0 up about 5 mins to go instead of giving him a run out he brings on that alleged centre half COLLINS now thats pure favouritism is it not.

We pay our few hundred quid year in year out to our beloved Wolves and we get screwed by an inept tactical idiot who`s is too stubborn to realise his errors and how much its affecting our club.

Mad MIck has brought in too many old friends he can keep in line and anyone with any gumption to say anything back to him gets dropped(ROY KEANE granted not at Wolves but you know what i mean), frozen out(EASTWOOD) or sold(McINDOE).

Since Taff went MAD MICK hasn`t had a clue Wolves need a complete overhaul from THE FAT CONTROLLER MOXEY right through the backroom staff and onto the pitch. AND before any chirps up with who would i want to take over the answer is I dont know.

Errmmm, the top players at the club don’t get booed.

Whilst I dont condone booing and have never booed myself, Keogh/Elliot/Collins and Ward are mediocre CHAMPIONSHIP players. Knowhere near premeirship quality unfortunately.

    39. Spot on, the Muppet only put Freddie on the bench to rub his nose in it. Look at the seasonal facts. When has the Muppet ever bought Freddie on whwn we were winning? Answer – Never. When has he bought Freddie on when we needed a win or draw heads down and the team running outta ideas? Answer Always. This is drilling it to the statisticians that Freddie on means we don’t win and he does SFA, perhaps he didn’t see this stat then!!!

By the way, if we had worn blindfolds we would have still beat them last night. Just one real positive out of this is Wayne’s record clean sheet, but then Moyes will have noticed this too albeit against a crap Cardiff outfit who only tested him twice all night

I think we have to recognise that Cardiff were not really at the races but still looked more technically capable than Wolves.

The goals were all well worked and taken but there was lots of negative evidence regarding the ability of our players to actually control a game. There were far to many unforced errors, a tendency to move towards their own penalty area and a lack of desire to get the ball in their opponent’s penalty area. And why ho why can they not do simple things like take positive throw-ins, invariably no one wants the ball and it goes to the opposition.

In general Cardiff seemed quicker on the ball, without really exerting themselves and were in complete control of the midfield. They must really be asking how they lost so comprehensively.

Great crowd for such a big club pushing for the play-offs (LOL). Good news for Baggies as well, puts the pressure on Palace to get that point we need against Hull. Even better news is this might keep Mad Mick in his job. Good job Cardiff’s players are dreaming of FA Cup glory, I bet they hardly put a tackle in last night.

If you cant get behind the team and feel the need to boo one of our own players – regardless of his form lately -0 yo are not Wolves Supporters – so go away and find somewhere else to carry out your juvenile and team dflating expressios. In 60 years of support I have NEVER found irt acceptable to boo a playerr of my Club.

I am a season ticket holder at Wolves and I am ashamed at some of the comments so called fans make, the nastiness, personal attack on ceratin players, is so unnecessary ask yourself this question has it got us or you anywhere? does it make the players play any better? The booing of Neil Collins last night was a disgrace, the morons that did that should never come to molineux again, while he wears gold and black he should be supported, while he is not the best player in the world he gives 100%.

The atmosphere last night was terrible until after we scored the 3rd goal and while we have a chance of the play offs we should support the team.

Last season we played Coventry at Molineux, the crowd was about the same as last night and we won a poor game 1-0 but the difference between last night and that game was the atmosphere. It was fantastic we supported the team, there was unity we supported the players. if we had played
like that last night the players would have been booed off.

If fans want to comment make it constructive, all these nasty, personal comments serve no purpose and certainly dont help the players

McCarthy has ripped the club apart, just as he did at Sunderland and the clubs before that. His relationships with players, staff, supporters are all bad and devicive, and the fans find themseleves torn apart as well.

It just goes with his petulant, arrogant, character. But why should 90% of the supporters give up following Wolves, it’s the manager that has to go, not the fans!

For starters let us cngratulate young Wayne on the clean sheets record, given some of the defenders he has had in front of him it is a magnificent achievement and about the only positive to take from this season.

Last night the booing of first Eliott and then Collins is something no one would ideally want to witness. However, what has been lost on those who have complained is that this is perhaps the only way in which those who want to demonstrate their frustration with MM can do so.
The caller to WM who suggested that following the boing of Elliott it was a two fingered gesture to the crowd by MM to then bring on Collins was perhaps nearest to the truth. Which other manager would have kept his front two on for the whole 90 minutes when at 3-0 he could have rested them other than someone with the twisted mentality that is MM ?
This man delights in hurting not only FE but supporters generally by putting him on the bench and then ignoring him.Last night was a demonstration of proving who is in charge, a small minded bully who, the sooner he is history the better.

The point I was trying to make is we should support the team and despite what we all think it would appear that Mad Mick will be there next season that seems to be the word coming out of the club. All this negativity towards certain players and the manager serves no purpose on match day except plays into our oppositions hands.

After 55 years of following the Wolves, I have never booed a player wearing the Wolves shirt. That is disrespect for the colours!

I have let my feelings be known after games, letters to press and radio, nowadays we use the web as well, but never booed the shirt. That is unforgivable!

I know that if I ever did it my uncle Ted would rise from his grave and box my ears!

    McCarthys last stand

Over the last 2 months I have not heard anybody near me in the ground say anything good about McCarthy. Everybody wants him away.

The only place I hear support for him is here on this board. Logically, those supporting McCarthy do not go to matches or are Moxey employees trying to unbalance the fans discussions, and keep the debate away from his own shortcomings.

The day of reckoning draws ever closer.

It is interesting to see how this develops. It would not hurt the clubs financial model to qualify for the playoffs, and there is then good extra revenue to be earned from those matches.

However, it would be a financial disaster for Wolves to actually qualify for the Premiership, so it’s safe to assume that it won’t happen. The 3 M’s (Morgan, Moxey, McCarthy) are proving to be an efficient money generating team.

I’m right cross at all the armchair supporters telling the real fans who go to the matches to shut up and tolerate whatever quality of football we are presented with. The only role we have is to cheer and support. The manager will make all of the decisions, and we have no right to criticise him.

It does not surprise me that Messrs Moxey and McCarthy will be here next season, because as long as Moxey can keep up the illusion of Premiership ambition and keep the punters buying tickets, and McCarthy can keep finding good players in the lower divisions at cheap prices to sell-on after a season, then the other “M”, Mr Morgan, will maximize his £10 investment in the WWFC.
