Arrest in post-match murder probe
Monday 21st April 2008, 6:36AM BST.
Police were today continuing to question a man on suspicion of murder after a man, believed to be a football fan, was fatally struck by a car in Birmingham.
The incident happened after the derby clash between Aston Villa and Birmingham City at Villa Park.
The victim, 26, was hit by a Volkswagen Golf in Aston Hall Road, close to Villa Park. He was pronounced dead in hospital.
West Midlands Police said the suspect was in custody and being questioned.

Condolences to Villa fans from myself, and I’m sure I’m safe in saying from all fellow Wolves fans too.
Such a hard thing to get your head round, that another human being actually died at a football match. An almost numb feeling really, I can’t get it to sink in.
Hard as it may be, you must not let this spoil yesterday’s game. The day the thugs find a way of spoiling football for “normal” fans, is the day football dies. Fans from all around must rally and show that true football will always prevail over anything the thugs can do to taint the game.
