Team gets lifeline from star
Saturday 19th April 2008, 11:15AM BST.
A cash-strapped Sunday league side thought they were going to have to give up on their dream of promotion until they were handed a lifeline by Wolves star Karl Henry.
The footballer came to the rescue of struggling side Bagot Arms FC which, despite being top of the table, was on the verge of being banned due to outstanding bills. The team, which plays at Aldersley High School, had slipped into debt.
Club chairman Rodney Dillion began footing the team’s bills but just when the division two side thought the end was near the Wolves captain handed over a cheque for £200.
Club secretary Laura Llewellyn, 22, said Karl Henry had helped after being approached by her boyfriend, player Leigh Samuels, who is a friend of the star.

Nice one karl. Top of the league!?! I think Wolves should get their manager in as he obviously know’s what he is doing. Another disappointment for my 5 year old son on Saturday AGAIN! Why do we bother?

They were going under cos they could not raise £200!!?? Ridiculous. Why did they all not go grab a sponge and go wash cras for a day or something…must be at least 15 players there…would not have been hard for them to raise rather then fearing they woudl not achive their promotion dream. What is wrong with the world these days!

What a ridulous comment to make Jon (ABOVE)… As i’m understanding the boys had been told that there club was going to fold and they had a matter of 3 days to sort things out, with full time job how do you expect them to grab a sponge and wash cars Pathetic! Do you think that they would of raised £200 with the amount of Iraqie car washers about anyway????? Also the world is full of jumped up pratts like you thats what is wrong with the world nower days!!
