Child fights for life after collision

ambulance1.jpgA boy of four was fighting for life today after being knocked down by a suspected hit-and-run driver on a main road into Wolverhampton.

The youngster, who suffered head injuries, was found by medics lying unconscious on the Bilston Road at All Saints before being taken to the city’s New Cross Hospital.

A man was today being quizzed by police on suspicion of dangerous driving and failing to stop after an accident.

Police cordoned off a stretch of the road heading into the city, near to the Renault showroom, after the crash which happened at around 3.45pm yesterday.

Specialist officers from West Midlands Police carried out skid tests on the road last night.
