Motorists hit by seatbelt fines
Thursday 17th April 2008, 8:34AM BST.
Eighty-five motorists were caught not wearing a seatbelt in just three hours in one road in Birmingham.
West Midlands Police said the people were caught in Coventry Road flouting the seatbelt rules. Each offender was given a £30 fine.
The news comes just days after the force said too many people were still ignoring calls to wear seatbelts.
Officers believe that up to 20% of people travelling in cars are not abiding with the law.
Some of the seatbelt arrests related to child passengers who did not have the required car seats.

Doesn’t surprise me. In fact, I thought they’d have got more. I see people all the time not wearing belts, the same people are usually talking on their mobile aswell.
