Albion will bounce back – Mowbray

Albion boss Tony Mowbray said today the Baggies must dust themselves down following the disappointment of Saturdays FA Cup semi final defeat to Portsmouth at Wembley.
Albion head to Blackpool tomorrow for the first of six make-or-break fixtures in the Championship.

And Mowbray revealed today that he adopted an unusual method of dealing with the 1-0 loss – building a snowman at the crack of dawn yesterday with young son Lucas.
Mowbray said: “I was up at 7.00am yesterday building a snowman.
“My life is all about football and family and the family is always there to fall back on at times like this.”
But Mowbray insisted neither he or his players will have any problems picking themselves up from their Wembley heartache as they head for the seaside and a match at Bloomfield Road.
Mowbray said: “I am always ready for the next game because if you can’t cope with disappointment in this job then you shouldn’t be in it.
“There is always another game to focus on and that is what we’ll do.
“The players are fully aware of the programme that is in front them and they have got a determination to move forward.
“They won’t need Churchillian speeches from me because they know what the challenge is.”

At least it’s shown you if you go up this season that the cheque book will have to come out to get some premiership quality strikers because that’s where it the difference in the teams stood out the most.

Fair comment, but I’m sure that TM believes he has the strikers he needs. It isn’t easy getting a striker that will score you 15 to 20 goals in the premiership unless you can spend vast ammounts of cash, or get younger players that have potential.

Play the rest of the season the same as Saturday lads and we will be in the Prem next season, no doubt.
Nice to see a couple of the local rivals posting on our board before us, one sensible and one full of the usual vitriol.
Hopefully results go for us tonight and a win tomorrow puts us where we should be.

Bad luck on Saturday you were the better the first 45 but that’s the way the cookie sometimes crumbles and I think it helped you playing a Prem team as the space we gave you suited uoy more.
Chris Brunt had a stinker for you and that Miller my god… So one footed. You need changes if you do make it to the promised Land. Good Luck you’ll need it!

If you play like you did on saturday you will not look like scoring, you will not go up. you knocked the ball around in the middle of the pitch to no avail. brunt, phillips, bednar, koren and your shocking back 4 proved that they are not near being good enough for the prem. oh dear, blackpool will fancy it on tues! all these away games you have coming up too!

10 Pompey Agreed I think our style is much better suited to thr prem but the difficulty is getting there.
It was a definate 0-0 extra time and pens game untill Baros decided to play netball but the goal stood so as you said thats the way the cookie crumbles.

Albion dominated possession but that counts for nothing when you only have one shot on target in 90 minutes. Pompey did an Italian Job on the baggies, they soaked up all the pressure with there 2 quality center halves and then did a counter attacking master class.
Fair play though, albion gave a good account for themselves and black country football but just lacked that killer edge, or maybe that was Portsmouth class which you don’t get in the championship!!

Beaten by a team that as everybody knows , had an off day. Reached the semi’s by not playing any team worth talking about. You lot really are in fairy dairy land if you think thats an achievement.But then again most of you would need a dictionary to clarify achievement.

We have nothing to bounce back from, apart from outplaying a Premiership team for most of an FA Cup Semi Final!!
On another point, i really don’t understand some of the recent posts saying that they preferred the Gary Megson baggies. I much prefer the football and entertainment that we are getting at the moment. Oh and how many FA Cup Semi finals did Megson get us to????

The Megson way is a complete contrast to the Mowbray way. I can understand the argument to a degree, and Megson’s way is far more effective in this league, which is why Bristol City and Stoke are utilising their resources a little better than we probably are.
BUT, Tony Mowbray’s brief as manager is to get this club into the Premiership again and giving us a chance to survive there.
If we were to somehow revert back to the Megson way, we may well battle to another promotion, but we’ll not stand a chance in the Premiership, as has been proved by every club that’s gone up and played that way, and we’ll have not progressed anywhere in 6 or 7 seasons.
This team can survive in the Premiership. Instead of moaning and knocking what was a gallant performance against a very good side, lets get behind them for 6 of the most important games in the club’s history.
To the bitter Wolves posts on here, get a grip, you make yourselves look silly by devoting so much time to us.

I haven’t seen these posts but I’ve said before it’s like comparing chalk and cheese. Without Gary Megson TM wouldn’t be in the position to play the football we are today and before we knock Gary’s lack of semi final appearances let’s look at how many promotions he got us. Anyway that’s water under the bridge. I think they’re both excellent managers, why knock one to praise the other.

Megson will always be loved by Baggies fans. We should all remember that we are in the position we are now, because of him. He changed us from a releagtion threatened Championship club into a Premiership club (all be it short lived), in a short space of time. Mowbray is now the man to take us to the next level and establish West Brom in the Premier League – Where we belong!!

After reading all these posts today it seems to me a lot of Wolves fans watched our Semi Final at Wembley. Perhaps they wanted to watch how football should be played, and are looking to join us from the dark side.

Ther it is ! opportunity knocks. We keep on hearing from TM, that the players are breaking at the leash after a reversal in any of our competitions. If we fail to overcome blackpool tonight, then all the hyperbole that comes from the local media will mean nothing. Its results that count, and we should not be aspiring to prem talk, if we cannot give blackpool a hiding.There is no excuse now, and i believe if we use just 40 per cent of our know quality, we should win 4-0 tonight.
Its all about the prem, we have endeared ourselves to the entire footballing public—but it counts for nothing if we miss promotion this year.
