Albion cut ticket prices

Monday 7th April 2008, 11:25AM BST.

11655022.jpgAlbion today began rallying the troops in the wake of their Wembley heartbreak by slashing Hawthorns ticket prices.

The Baggies have cut admission for their final two home games of the season in order to ensure bumper crowds as they strive to win the race for promotion.

The decision to charge just £1 for children and £10 for everyone else for the matches against Watford and Southampton is the club’s latest move to crank up the atmosphere for two crunch matches in the Championship run-in.

Albion hope the move will lead to sell-outs despite Saturday’s match with Watford and the April 28 clash with Southampton both being televised live.

Any fans who have already paid full price for their tickets will have the difference refunded if they contact the club.

Not only do they have plans to reduce capacity but now they have to almost give the tickets away, what happened to all the fans who went to London on Saturday??

Well done Mr. Peace and the Board. Most season ticket holders don’t mind in the least about the reduction. We get some concessions with the Shop and Wembley.
Fill the ground if possible Could you rig up a test for ‘moaners’ and not sell them any tickets? We had one sat behind us at Wembley and his foul language, abuse and non-stop moaning….oh dear. Why do they go?

Number 3 – just give them a piece of your mind. They do my head in as well.

Number 2 – Same as your fans that went to Wembley a few years back. It’s the same for all clubs.

i dont care about the price reductions either…..there will be some people who will moan as always….

and 3/4….if u pay for your ticket you reserve your right to have ur opinion on the game….in my opinion you know whats going to happen in the stand and foul language is just part of that i feel…..i used to hear it when i was a kid, but having always sat next to my dad would never repeat it, sometimes it can be excessive and in that case then yeh something should be said but you have to expect to hear this language when you go to a footy match, its just the way it is

I watch ‘Shameless’ on TV so I know all the naughty words and then some, but this time it was ‘beyond the pale’. This bloke bordered on the psychotic and was about 55years younger than me so I didn’t bother with a rebuke. No, chaps, my question is, ‘Why did he go’? We played some great football and showed how good The Championship is. So we didn’t win, but were far from disgraced. Harry never praises the opposition, but he did this time, (well a bit anyway).

Your club treats u alot better than the wolves board treat us i can safely say that.

Free coaches to barnsley and cut prices into home games..

I dont see why Mr morgan doesnt realise that if he did cut prices… We wud sell out easy… after such a poor season and still averaging 23500 attendances at full price.. and most of the Gaps are in the away section 80% of the time.. only bristol city, cambridge, and coventry have sold out. Im betting uv sold out for the 15th already ? good good us 2.

    11) I think the reality is football is an expensive game to watch and it’s nice to see the clubs give something back once in a while. Agree it would be nice to see Jez do something similar

yes the reason they have free coach travel is because of bad away support and they had 20,000 at their last home game? poor attendances considering there playing this free-flowing football?

Recently on here there was a great debate after an article said that Wolves v WBA had the most rivalry. This sparked remarks from the Tesco’s that “Wolves were like a little annoying cousin” etc, and there were also comments from your mob that you were the bigger club etc etc. Well now we know you have to virtually give your tickets away to get above your meagre 20,000 average (where oh where are the extra 13,000 from Saturday?). I would like to take a bet that even at these prices you will not fill the ground. Wolves average gate this season is 3,000 bigger than yours, FACT. Yet we have had to watch a team struggle with the loss of Premiership parachute money over the last two seasons. If you don’t make it this season lets see how you shape up next season when all your high earners have to leave. I bet there’s going to be a lot of twitching of the backend from you lot these next few weeks, and before you start coming back with the usual diatribe that your in breeding normally sparks, we at Wolves haven’t expected much this season since Christmas. The last few weeks have been a bonus, but if we don’t make it, it will be no big deal, but if your bottle goes I bet the suicide rate in Sandwell will shoot up come mid-May.

Well we sold out the QPR game last time. The match is televised so it is a good move by the club.
Yes your average gate is 3000 more than ours. Surprising really when we get posters on here saying that you have 40,000 plus fans, so an average of 3000 more fans than the little club in Sandwell must be puzzling you.

    25. Ah an inferiority complex I feel here. Where did I say Tesco Utd was a little club in Sandwell? Your words I am afraid. But please you shouldn’t have a complex about it, just accept that you will NEVER be as big as Wolves and you are inferior then you can get on with life in your miserable town, that’s right isn’t it you are just a town not a City? You are correct many of my family thought I was a better player than young Robbie until he moved to a big City club…

    21. I’ve seen you play and you’re definitely better. Your memory is another thing though, ‘we didn’t expect much this season.’ Before a ball was kicked, you were going to sweep all before you on the way to winning the title by Easter. Don’t know why I’m surprised as you’re always like this before the games start, as with the one on the 15th. Also when our star players leave at the end of the season, again echoes of your predictions last season. If we struggle next season like we have this I’ll be more than happy.

The idea of having special offer on tickets like this is fab. We are a family of 4 and cannot afford to go to every home match at the Hawthorns as it is too expensive. This is a wonderful way of ensuring that all baggies fans can afford to come and watch them. Was dissappointed at how we were robbed last Saturday at Wembley but I know that finacially the club will have profitted from the cup run we have a wonderful team at the Hawthorns and we must get behind them and aim for the premiership. Watching on the TV is not the same as the atmosphere at the Hawthorns can’t wait to see you beat Watford on Saturday.
