Kiely to end Pompey dispute

Friday 4th April 2008, 11:25AM BST.

wd2234252albion-15-dh-13.jpgAlbion keeper Dean Kiely is ready to end his dispute with Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp by shaking the Portsmouth manager’s hand at Wembley tomorrow.

The Baggies man and Redknapp have been exchanging verbal jibes since Kiely’s acrimonious exit from Fratton Park 14 months ago.

But Kiely today refused to add fresh fuel to the fire and insisted he will shake the Pompey boss’s hand tomorrow.

“Football moves along and managers make decisions,” said Kiely, who previously said he felt ‘used’ by Redknapp when he was replaced by England keeper David James.

“The way it came about when I left was just a bit ‘twisty and turny’ whereas I prefer straightforward, honest decisions.

“And that was it. I hope I bump into Harry Redknapp tomorrow and if I do I will shake his hand. I’m sure he’s happy with the job I did in the six months I was there.

“I went there at a critical time when they were in a poor position and I thought I did very well for them.

“But I won’t sit here with my face screwed up thinking I’m going to get back at whoever because that’s a million miles from who I am.”

You shake his hand after you’ve picked the ball out of your net a few times tomorrow. Your class is good enough for the baggies, but not good enough for Pompey, deal with it :)
