True Pole dancing club to open

Thursday 3rd April 2008, 11:37AM BST.

A Polish nightclub featuring lap dancing and live European DJs is opening in the Black Country this month.

The Explosion club has also been awarded a licence to hold events such as wrestling, boxing and “erotic shows”. The club is located in West Bromwich High Street and is the brainchild of business partners Beata Nowakowska and Sebastian Bes, who emigrated to the Black Country from Legnica, in Poland six years ago.

It is expected to open on either April 19 or April 26, and will be open seven days a week from 10am to 6am.

“It will be the first Polish club in West Bromwich,” said Beata. “We feel quite proud.”

“There will be a mixture of everything – a pub, bar, there will be lap dancing nights and some erotic shows, and themed evenings like men’s nights and ladies nights.

“And it’s a Polish club but its open to everyone, we want a mix.”

She added: “The club will be spilt in two with an upstairs room and a downstairs room, so people can chose what they want to do.”

Beata, aged 31, said she also hoped to bring in Polish DJs to play during the summer.

Her original licence application had asked for permission to play music and sell alcohol outside the premises was was refused by police on the grounds that it could encourage noise and anti-social behaviour. They agreed terms with the police this week.

But ward councillor Linda Turton said she was disappointed that the application for the club had been granted.

“It was a furniture shop before and it seems a shame that it couldn’t stay as something more along those lines rather than another lap dancing club just yards down the road from the next one,” she said.

“It’s frustrating for me but if it has been approved then that’s it, there’s nothing I can do.”

She added: “It’s certainly not my thing.”

i think its a good idea to hav another new club up west brom but i dont agree with the lap dancing part i think it is wrong and it explotes women if it waz just another club everyone would be fine with it but men are going to disagree with what i have said as thy all like to see women do all that kind of stuff but what u have got to ask your self is it going to bring more trouble to west brom with anti social behavior and other thing people do

what a joke ,get ready for the explosion in crime and violence,10am till 6am-its west brom not broad street.
This is a polish club so before long it will be full of just polish and anyone not polish will feel like a minority this in turn will cause trouble as the gangs of polish face-off against the other gangs of young people in west brom.
