Forgotten Wolves man eyes exit

Thursday 3rd April 2008, 11:26AM BST.

Denes RosaForgotten Wolves midfielder Denes Rosa today admitted he may be forced to leave Molineux in the summer if he can’t guarantee first team football.

The Hungarian international has been restricted to reserve team football this season where he has scored 11 goals in 10 games, including one in last night’s 2-2 draw against Albion’s second string.

Rosa’s contract still has more than a year to run and he admits he will re-assess his future with boss Mick McCarthy this summer.

“If I can play, I’d like to stay because I like it here,” said Rosa.

“But if I can’t play here, I will try to get a move in the summer. I will stay in England.

“I have one more year on my contract. At the moment I don’t know yet whether I will leave yet because I was out injured with a hernia for a long time and now I’m getting match-fit so I’m waiting.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen – I haven’t spoke to the manager yet about my position.

“I work hard every day and I’m waiting to see. There’s no interest yet. I haven’t spoken to anyone but maybe my agent has something for me.”

His goals do the talking. 11 in 9 in the reserves this season…why is he not sitting on the first team bench at least. he has been injured but as he says, he is back to match fitness.

Good eye for goal, and could provide attacking impetus from midfield if we’re chasing a game.

4.Wolvesmad are they as good? we’ll never know because he only plays favourites. Reserve team football is about showing what you can do, just think if we had someone from midfield who could score just 10 goals a season. I’ve never seen this guy really have a bad game when he played and certainly gave more contribution than Elliot when he played on the right. Worth putting on the bench.
Another baffling decision by MM or should i say expected by now.

Can’t understand why this bloke can’t get a game. An attacking midfielder who works hard and was scoring goals when we were crying out for somebody who knew how to put a ball in the sprout bag. I think his form should have got him a place on the bench this season at the bare minimum but he’s not an MM signing and he’s too attack minded so not much chance of getting a game

He is a good player. The problem is when he was fit, MM made the choice between him and Seyi. Seyi/George has only just started playing to the levels that he can do.
I agree with most on this site in that he definitely should be on the bench. He has a decent record for the first team.
If he goes, he will not struggle for a team. Other clubs have not gone in for him, as he has been injured.
Poor management from MM with him and Freddy I am afraid. Which weighs against the good pieces of management/decisions ie Hennessey, Elokobi, Gray, Ebanks-Blake!

We have a saying in the UK Denes, ‘when your face doesn’t fit…’ and unfortunately yours does not with McCarthy!
You have wasted a year or so of your life here at Wolves and regardless of the manager’s comments earlier in the season about ‘putting a shift in for the reserves’ etc, it counts for nothing when the manager does not like you!
So Denes, do yourself a favour, don’t spend another season in the reserves, find another club who deserves a player like you, who will give you games on a regular basis, lets you play your normal game and to score goals for fun as you have been doing.
Good luck Denes, you have had a raw deal and I wish you better luck at another club!

I agree that we do have alot of midfielders, but alot of the above are defensive minded. Our main two attacking central midfielders (Edwards and Davies) are injured, which just leaves Oli…and MM is intent on playing our top scorer last year in a defensive role…for some reason!

With Edwards and Davies returning in the near future though, I think Rosa has had the opportunity, but MM has deemed him not good enough to play. And he’s not going to get in the team when those two are fit is he?

Like our fans did with Paul Butler, Karl Henry, Andy Keogh, just to name a few!!! It makes my blood boil that our fans constantly criticise our own. Last season was so nice been a Wolves fan, when we supported our club for once. Teams (& managers) go through bad patches and thats when they need us the most, which as proven last season, after the Southamton game, helps much more than moaning!!!!! They were all screaming for him last year. (NOT!!!) No-one was willing to listen to them when we over-achieved. The Negativity Nerds are like empty oil drums. They make a lot of noise, but contribute nothing.

They constantly threaten to return their season tickets. Half of them never owned one, so how can you return something you don’t have.

Rosa has done well in the reserves. When the players train though, they don’t train just against the reserves. They compete with the first team. The reason that they are in the reserves is often because they can’t cut it against the first team regulars in training. You lot don’t seem to undersatnd that though. You make stupid noises about MM having favourites. They are his favourites because he sees them perform better than the others day in and day out at training, and when they get to play in the league.

18, South Bank Genius (?) asks what Rosa and Eastwood have to do to get in ahead of Seyi Olofinjana and Andy Keogh? “Be better than the” is the answer. Neither of them are better. If you attended matches you would see that. (How can you call yourself a “genius,” by the way? If that was advertising it would breach the Trades Description Act.)

    Let’s examine the facts…

A Hungarian International player, good enough to play against the best that the Premiership can throw at Hungary, plays for a second-rate Championship team, managed by a management serial failure, with a giant, inflated ego.

After injury, he ends up playing reserve team football, but scoring 11 goals in 10 games is not considered to be good enough to getting a seat on the bench, let alone a team place.

Hmmm… I am going to a darkened room to think about this. Maybe, if he altered his name to O’Rosa he might have more chance?

Seen Rosa play first team football & as for putting a shift in, well, can’t say that anyone presently is a more attacking/defending midfielder. Having said that, George & Henry are doing whats required but I feel that to have back up in the likes of Rosa on the bench would turn games, either to hold onto results or turn the screw & have a much more attacking force when chasing results in the run in. I & a few good many like Me can’t think why Rosa (like Eastwood) are finding it hard to see why these guys are only playing reserve or bit part football………
I’ll be sad to see both of these guys move on, as I’m sure they will, just watch it turn around & bite us again in the very near future.

On the other hand, a good manager (which we lack) might have him kicking the ball around.

This is madness. For those of you agreeing that he should go, it seems clear that you have never seen him play. Whe he featured he was nothing less than superb. I would put him in the same league as Alex Rae with a work rate second to none. What concerns me is that he has not asked the question already. Someone of his class surely would not be happy playing for the reserves. He is an attacking midfielder and with 2 wingers would add flare to the attack. The only problem is that we would sacrifice defensive duties and we all know our defence is poor. Keep Rosa. Get rid of Potter.

I do not think that Wolves have been very wise here. We have an International player, and we have reduced his market value. I think that this is disgraceful!

Get him playing, get him market exposure and then sell him. The pathetically managed situation we have at the moment means that we have to give him away.

If we built him up he would be worth £3-5M. With the incompetent way he has been managed we are heading towards a freebie!

    Heads should roll for this!!!
