Girl injured in bus collision
Monday 31st March 2008, 11:41AM BST.
A girl had to be airlifted to hospital with serious head injuries after being in collision with a bus in Stourbridge.
The victim, who has not yet been identified but who is believed to be aged about 13, was struck by the single-deck bus in Highfield Road, Amblecote, at about 1.30pm on Saturday. A crew from the West Midlands Ambulance Service rushed to the scene where they found the girl had suffered a suspected fractured skull and pelvis.
She was airlifted to Birmingham Children’s Hospital by the Country Air Ambulance where her condition on arrival was described as stable. This is the latest accident where a pedestrian has been hit by a bus.
In February a pensioner suffered serious head injuries and a fractured leg after being in collision with a bus in Dudley.
West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to Wolverhampton Street after a man, 71, was knocked down.
He had to be put on a spinal board and fitted with a neck collar before being taken to the town’s Russells Hall Hospital.
