A Wolverhampton pensioner who married at the age of 85 has died three weeks to the day after his wedding.
Former foundry worker Dennis Jones died yesterday following an operation at Wolverhampton’s New Cross Hospital.
Last week Mr Jones and wife Sophie, 86, were beaming after returning from a four-day honeymoon in Blackpool with 25 friends.
On March 4 they became one of the oldest couples in the country to tie the knot after meeting four years ago at the Chris Laws Day Centre in Low Hill.
The devoted couple from Bushbury were married at the city’s register office in front of nearly 40 family and friends.
