Time to map out a plan for Villa's future

Albion ace targets goal best
Monday 24th March 2008, 11:26AM GMT.
Albion midfielder Robert Koren is backing himself to challenge his career-best goalscoring tally to help fire Albion to promotion and FA Cup glory.
The Slovenian international has nine goals to his name already this season and he is confident he can add more from midfield.
Koren believes he can go close to the season’s best total of 12 he set for CM Celje in his homeland, but he insists he is not concerned about personal milestones.
“In every game you give 100 per cent and you always want to score goals too but I never think about numbers,” he said.
“It’s difficult for a midfielder or a defender to say how many goals he wants to score because we have to do other things too.
“Strikers have to do other things too but for them the most important thing is to score goals.
“Of course it’s always good for midfielders to score goals too but I never think before a season about how many goals I want to score.
“In my last year in Norway I scored 10 goals in 25 or 26 games and in Slovenia I scored 12 goals in 31 or 32 games.
“But it was a different system, a different league and a different everything so I’m really happy that I scored so many goals so far.
“I hope that I will score some more goals and we will win games.”
And Koren revealed he is no stranger to scoring, although he expected goals to be harder to come by when he was asked to play in a less attacking position for the Baggies.
He said: “I have more or less always played behind the strikers at my other clubs so I have always scored many goals from midfield.
“That is nothing new but we are playing a different system to what I’ve played before so I am happy to have scored so many.
“The most important thing is the team going up the team is more important to me than my own performance.
“Of course it’s important that you perform every week and give 100 per cent because it will help the team.”

For me, Koren has been one of the finds of the season, tireless work ethic, always good use of the ball, and a fantastic partner for jonno. Doesnt the table look good again, still going up the mowbray way.

Roko is a good player but if we get up he is not good enough to keep us there. We have the best attack and midfield in the league by far and yet one of the worst defenses and yet in january he signs luke moore when we obviously need new defenders. If im being honest the club do have a top quality defender but he is on loan at hull to get his fitness according to tony how much fitness does he need he is in there first team and they are above us.Still hoping we get promotion but cannot see it happening we look like we are going to concede every time the opposition attack and the free flowing football has disappeared since x-Mass. Anyone have any different views please tell me.

Wolves have delusions of grandeur if they think they will even make the playoffs! It’s great to be a baggie, going up in STYLE!

It’s not very often I come on to the threads but I have to laugh at all the mickey taking that goes on. Fact 1. we are in the play off positions with games in hand that COULD take us top of the league (the way we are playing it’s a big could)
Fact 2 We are in the semi finals of the cup – and playing at Wembley again. How many other teams would like to be in the semi’s? The answer is every other team that ISN’T there!!
Fact 3 We could win this league, it’s in our own hands (again)There will be more twists and turns before the season is finished.
Fact 4 Wolves are just outside the play offs with, I think a game in hand (against us). Whoever wins may spoil it for the others.
All I want is for us both to be in the Premier league (us winning the title so no wembley visit for a third time!! this season – have to be optimistic).
So let the banter continue but at the moment all we can say is that we are in front of Wolves in the league with a good chance of a play off spot on current postion and we are going to Wembley like it or not (another mill in the pocket for JP).
So land carry on the good banter, lets have nothing vitriolic (that means ‘nasty’ to some of you wolves fans) and may the best teams finish on top.
Finally I have to say I am thrilled with the football we have served this season and whilst I do want to taste the Prem again I have enjoyed every minute (except Leicester and Coventry at home and Barnsley away)of doing it the Mowbray way.

Isn’t it amazing how all the Dingles come out of the woodwork to shout their mouths off when they’ve won a couple of games? And all they can do is insult the Baggies, no intelligent comments on the game or the way we play – just mindless insults. Just shows their lack of education and their inability to put forward a balanced arguement. I teach 5 year olds who come out with the same kind of thing when they can’t think of anything else to say and are about to throw their rattle out of the pram! So if you’re going to come on a site and place a blog at least say something worth reading. Thanks to all the Dingles who do have some intelligence and can have an educated discussion – you are very rare people indeed. Win or lose, promotion or not – we’re proud of our football club and mindless insults aren’t going to change that.

Same would be said on our site too til i die so grow up yourself…
