To speed through the transaction at the end of last month, they told solicitors to leave a spectacular giant model train set, which had belonged to the previous owner, in the loft.

Now the couple, who have three young children are inviting collectors or parents to take the grand creation off their hands. Mr Wright, a 36-year-old self-employed manufacturer, was so keen to move his family from Wrights Bank in School Lane, Coven, to St Paul’s Close in the village, he agreed to keep the track in case the hiring of tradesmen to dismantle it held things up.

He said: “It belonged to the previous owner of the house who died.

“He had obviously put so much effort into it that it seemed a real shame to just take a hammer to it.

“It is really impressive and takes up the whole loft, which I would estimate is around 18ft by 10ft.

“It is on a raised table with a hole in the middle where you can sit which acts as the control centre and around half a dozen different lines coming out of the main station with other stations on each track.

“There is a turntable, tunnels, canal, and industrial buildings. It would be greatly appreciated by someone who likes model trains.”

Mr Wright said he has no idea how much it is worth but is happy to let anyone who will take it off his hands to have the set for free.

“It would be ideal for an enthusiast or for older children. Mine are all under four, so it is no good to us and we really need the space.”

There are no model trains with the tracks. Mr Wright added: “I have no idea what happened to the trains.

“The set could certainly accommodate quite a few of them. It would look fantastic to have a number of them whizzing around.

“I would just like it to go to a good home where someone can get a lot of enjoyment out of it.”

Anyone interested in taking the train set should call Mr Wright on 07985 371954.
