Time to map out a plan for Villa's future
- Says blogger Matthew Turvey
Forest 1 Walsall 1
Saturday 15th March 2008, 2:00PM GMT.
16.56: Final whistle. After back to back home defeats, Richard Money’s men have got a very creditable point, especially after they fell behind. Walsall fans – get those comments coming in. Can they still nail down a play-off place?
16.52: Four minutes of injury time at the City Ground.
16.50: Ince punches clear a Chambers cross.
16.43: Rhys Weston heads over from 12 yards. Can Walsall hang on for the point or even snatch all three?
16.28: The game is being played at “a breathtaking pace”, says Sean Calvert. Bradley has a header cleared off the line from a Walsall corner.
16.15: Saddlers equalise straight away and it’s Mooney but there are questions marks over whether it’s an own goal. Great response from Walsall.
16.14: Forest take the lead through Ormerod.
15.45: Nathan Tyson hits the bar. Let-off for Walsall.
15.41: Mooney has held the ball up well as Walsall start to get a grip on the game following the opening Forest salvo, says our man.
15.37: Tyson has a shot from distance which is saved by Ince. Other than that, there are few chances.
15.26: Our man Calvert says the first 20 minutes or so have been played “almost exclusively in the Walsall half”. Meanwhile, stewards have had to go into the Walsall away end to remove a home fan who has made their way into the opposing crowd.
15.20: It was “all Forest” to begin with but Walsall have settled, says our man Sean Calvert.
15.10: A Brett Ormerod shot from 12 yards is tipped round the post for a corner by Clayton Ince. The keeper had little to do for most of the Brighton game but still ended up on the losing side.
15.02: We’re underway. Walsall have gone for a 4-5-1 formation.
14.59: Your scribe for today was at Walsall for Tuesday night’s match. The conditions were terrible but Brighton caught Saddlers on the break twice to punish their lack of cutting edge up front. Here’s hoping they can perform better today.
14.36: Stefan Moore on the bench for Walsall and no Darren Wrack in the 16.
Walsall: Ince, Weston, Boertien, Gerrard, Roper, Bradley, Dobson, Holmes, Sonko, Betsy, Mooney.
Subs: Moore, Demontagnac, Deeney, Smith, McDermott.
14.00: Cracking game today between fourth and fifth in League One.
The Saddlers have an excellent record at Forest but have hit a dodgy patch.
Maybe a trip away from the Banks’s Stadium will help them.
