Yates orders more of the same

Thursday 13th March 2008, 10:30AM GMT.

Harriers boss Mark Yates has ordered more of the same in a ‘no fear’ message as Kidderminster seek their third successive win at play-off chasing Stevenage tonight (7.45pm).

Yates’ men have reeled off back to back victories against Stafford and Grays to give faint hope of a play-off challenge.

“We’ve got a bit of confidence and we just want to keep that going – not only the decent results, but the knocking the ball around well and working hard for each other,” said Yates.

“Like us, Stevenage would like to be higher than they are but they’ve been inconsistent as well. We’ll give them the respect they deserve, but we shouldn’t fear them if we perform like we have been doing in the last two games.”

With Kidderminster still 15 points off the play-offs with 12 games left, Yates is refusing to raise hopes of a resurrection just yet.

“We have to take it one game at a time and just get as many points as we can,” he said.

“If we win our next five or six games, we might set our sights higher, but at the moment, we just want to climb the table.”

Yates has played a 4-3-3 formation in the last two games and has Gavin Hurren fit again, but he isn’t expecting to change things in Hertfordshire.

“There won’t be too many changes,” he added. “Gavin has trained for the last two days, but we’ve found a way of playing which seems to be suiting us at the moment.

“The good thing in the last two games is we’ve shown a good workrate to get a foothold which has allowed players such as Simon Russell, Iyseden Christie, Matthew Barnes-Homer, Darryl Knights and the full-backs to play football.”

The game is live on Setanta Sports 1 tonight.
