Time to map out a plan for Villa's future
- Says blogger Matthew Turvey
Preston 2 Wolves 1
Wednesday 12th March 2008, 8:20AM GMT.
Simon Whaley’s late goal handed Preston victory and dealt Wolves’ play off hopes a major blow.
Andy Keogh had given the Molineux men the lead after 52 minutes but Preston hit back eight minutes later thanks to Callum Davidson’s spot kick – and grabbed the points when Whaley struck ten minutes from time.
The match was played in atrocious conditions with heavy rain and hail hammering down on the Deepdale pitch.
In the first half, Wolves should have been ahead in the opening minutes when Dave Edwards’ effort was blocked by North End keeper Andy Lonergan.
Sylvan Ebanks-Blake also went close for Wolves but Preston threatened through Sean St Ledger’s header and a Whaley shot from distance.
Keogh – on as a half time substitute for Edwards – put Wolves ahead seven minutes after the break when he beat his marker and drilled the ball past Lonergan from the edge of the area.
But Preston were level shortly afterwards when Jody Craddock bundled over Chris Brown in the box and Davidson made no mistake from 12 yards.
Both sides had chances to win the game but it was Whaley who struck the decisive blow, volleying home when he was left with plenty of time and space in the area.
The defeat leaves Wolves with a real uphill struggle to make the play-offs.

Please tell me I’m dreaming (having a nightmare !!) Please tell me that we are in fact 10 points clear at the top of the Championship and we are due to play the Baggies at Wembley in the FA Cup final. Please tell me that Muppet Mick was sacked 3 months ago and we have ‘The Special One’ in charge. Oh dear back to reality
What the hell is McCarthy doing playing 4-5-1 when we have to WIN games and SCORE goals. My condolences go to those faithful ones that travelled up to see them. Ireally do think it is time for a change

Now that the dream is over for another season , we can start to look forward and think about the
hard decisions that will need to be made for next season. Players and managers get judged on results. Merlin
can’t magic us into the Premier League maybe Incey can.
The apaches have broken through, and the battle of McCarthys Litle Big Horn is all over!
From now on we are just going to be chased, skalped and humiliated all the way back to the next season. When we start again against even more heavy competition to get into the Premiership.
Of course, Moxey will like that. Keeping the club in the non-risk Championship is his personal target!
McCarthy is just walking dead, the question we have to ask is who next?

What a tedious season this has been. Not the football or the losses or even watching a possible WBA double, good luck to them. No its MM and his endless stupidity, what is he going to call us tomorrow? What is his excuse going to be? The rain, the pitch, the ref, PNE fighting for survival, time of the month, someone will take the blame that’s for sure and it won’t be him. Stupid team selection, stupid tactics, what on earth must the players think? Hoddle was bad enough in confusing the hell out of players and over complicating what is a simple game but MM just defies belief, you look at the team sheet and you just cannot avoid saying “what the **** is he thinking!”
Never a penalty but I am guessing we played as bad as we have in every other game this season and deserved nothing. Picking Elliot ahead of Jarvis was ridiculous but not unexpected. Also don’t know how the crab aka Henry still find himself in the squad!

This is a great advert for the early bird, come on fellow fans throw your money down the drain to line Poxey Moxey’s pockets.
I can only hope we beat the Sandwell lot, that maybe our only joy this season…

MR MORGAN….PLEASE PAY ATTENTION
WE AS FANS WHO WORK HARD TO EARN OUR MONEY WILL NOT PUT UP WITH THE POOR DECISIONS MADE BY A POOR MANAGER WHO DOES WELL WITH LITTLE BUT IS POOR WHEN GIVEN MONEY,I WILL NOT BE RENEWING MY SEASON TICKET ALONG WITH AT LEAST 5 PEOPLE WHO SIT CLOSE TO WHERE I AM, SO HOW MANY MORE PEOPLE FEEL THE SAME???
WE NEED A YOUNG HUNGRY MANAGER SO BITE THE BULLET AND GO SPEAK TO MR INCE BEFORE SOMEONE ELSE LURES HIM.
MCCARTHY HAS BAFFLED FANS WITH TEAM SELECTIONS,FORMATIONS AND SNUBBING CERTAIN PLAYERS….
WE ARE WORSE THAN WE WERE THIS TIME LAST YEAR WITH A STRONGER SQUAD SO IT IS PURELY DOWN TO MANAGEMENT,TRAINING,TACTICS AND THAT FALLS TO MCCARTHY
I HAVE LOST FAITH WITH THE MANAGER
SO SHOW YOUR BALLS MRMORGAN AND SORT OUT THE PROBLEMS… I SUPPOSE MICK WILL BE BLAMING THE REF,WEATHER,SUPPORTERS,INJURIES OR EVEN A FULL MOON TO AVOID THE BLAME GOING ON HIS SHOULDERS

I think its time that even the mick fans acknowledged that MM has to go, I have tried to be as patient as possible. The players we have, kightly, jarvis, edwards, elokobi….and so on are a promising bunch of players, but the way we are performing this season is just not what we, the fans deserve! I bleed black and gold, but even I am loosing interest of this drivel!

This was a very poor result, why Jarvis did not start is a mystery and why play a 4-5-1 is also still a mystery. Muppet Mick has no idea what his best side is, why did he not start with Keogh. Why is out of form for the best part of the season Henry still trusted in midfield. Anyway, he won’t be gone until we mathematically cannot make it. I hate this season and I was so much looking forward to it, now I cannot wait until we cannot mathematically cannot do it and we replace the Muppet to salvage some respect
Be interseting who he will blame for this one, obviously not himself tho
Baggies fan, we haven’t much to sing about all season kid and we are all well aware of how you lot are all revelling in it
Morgan, take note. I know you were probably more interested in what was going on at the San Siro tonight but this is your club now but imagine if this was Liverpool being rubished by Everton week in week out and you were at the helm there! I’m sure you’d probably have done more to rectify that and took more notice of what the fans say, well listen to them here before we get disgruntled with you as well

Poor Performance, Poor Tactics, Poor Players, Poor Manager, Poor league position expected.
WE simply are not good enough.
I like it how the first two posts are from Albion fans, Are you really closet Wolves fans watching our games so intently.

I knew that we were going to get stuffed before I arrived, but I always loyally support the team!
Once again, McCarthy demonstrated his total lack of tactics and strategy. The opposition knew what he would do before he got here, because he has so few tactical changes.
We got stuffed and humiliated. I wanted to slag off the players, but they are doing their best in their limited way. Most shouldn’t even be at at this Championship club. They were cheap and moron Moxley decided that they were just what we wanted!
For God’s sake: Moxley, Mc Carthy, playing staff OUT, OUT, OUT. We have the dross of the Championship working here!

can anyone put an argument forward on why we should keep mick? And if so what do you think he could actually achieve? I think that this bloke just hasn’t got a clue. On the barnsley and chelsea game he said ` one thing barnsley don’t want to do is regret not giving it a go` Did we give it a go against cardiff? And do we generally give it a go at all with constant negativity (4-5-1) and stupid loyalty to players who just are not good enough when there is better waiting in the wings.Lost the plot, lost the fans, lost the dressing room, surely his job should be next!
ps please if you don’t agree put a valid argument back and don’t just call me fickle as that one is wearing thin now. A lot of very intelligent people think he must go!

It is hard to see any light coming out of this total eclipse of the once great Wolverhampton Wanderers.
There are low intelligence fans wandering around telling us to be true to the faith. Silly, limited intelligence faithfuls. Don’t give them too hard a time, they are also Wolves fans, just limited in their mental abilities!
I also stood in the Cowsheds and was a Wolves tribal member, without knowing much about football. These kids are just the same. Don’t be too hard with them, they were just so wrong and it all about the learning process for our younger supporters.
I think that everybody with any perception knows that the season is now over. Let’s start planning for next year.
No way was that a penalty but it doesn’t hide the fact that we’re really just an average Championship side this season. Where was FE tonight? I haven’t heard anything about him being injured, if not then he must be on his way out as he was the brightest player on the pitch when he came on against Southampton last week and this game he doesn’t even get picked????? Mick your tactics and team selections are baffling us all, surely Steve Morgan and the Fat Man can’t exprect fans to put up with another season of this garbage. I won’t be renewing my ticket next season unless he’s gone I really can’t stand anymore!!!

How much longer will this go on for ?
We are not even an average side within the worst this division has been for many years.
Come on Mr Morgan, give us some hope for next year and act now. MM is more interested in media work than watching opponents when the chance arrises so move him on and put us all out of our misery, PLEASE

1&2 Have you been waiting all evening for you chance to have a pop, baggie?
You sad, sad…! Still never mind school tomorrow, eh!
Poor conditions for playing football by all accounts, a game in which one team still managed to score two and the other one. Unlucky Wolves in that sense, still it leaves us with 0 from a possible 3 points in our quest for 7/9…looks like I won’t be needing the bobble hat after all!
Can someone check if North Korea are interested in a manager…?
Leaving aside my irrational bigotry, I make this comparison:
The Baggies – a great squad which plays under a bright, enterprising manager who sets out to play excitinght attractive football in every game and who has every chance of 2 Wembley appearances, promotion and a prolonged stay in the Premier League.
The Wolves – an increasingly dire squad which plays under a dour, unimaginative manager who sets out with strange formations and odd team selections not to lose and, if lucky, to sneak a win which has a limited mathematical chance of promotion and if – by some miracle it did make Wembley and win – would challenge Derby and Sunderland for lowest ever points total!
It would be funny if it weren’t so tragic! If we wait till the summer to get rid of the Joker, we’ll miss our chance for the Guvnor!
Keogh on the bench, no sign of Eastwood. Jarvis out replaced by Gray.
Passing the ball around close to your own area,
starting with 4-5-1 then taking off the only attacking midfielder and switching to a 4-4-2, and then offering no reply when going 2-1 down.
Once again Mr.Clueless tactical lackings are laid out for all to see.
There is no future with this guy and the sooner the board realizes, the sooner we can start preparing for next season.

another poor performance, another poor ref, just about sums this season up. just pride left to play for now, and how much more of that have we got left.
there needs to be some serious thinking done between now and the summer. as we stand at the moment we’re a shambles, everything we achieved last season has been destroyed. we’re virtually back to where we were when mick joined us, if he keeps his job at the end of the season then it’s a total rebuild to be done. yes we have a neuclious to start from i.e hennessey, elokobi, edwards, kightly, keogh, and seb, but what will happen with freddie and some of our other fringe players and the young guns out on loan. saying that we could loose some of those mentioned if some big enough clubs came in for any of them, i don’t know but it’s worrying times ahead from now till august, will we get the right blend and push on next season, or has the blight that has kept us in this division for almost 20 years set in again.
but what ever happens we’ll all be back next season, and why?
because WE ARE WOLVES UNTIL WE DIE..
As the promotion hopes edge towards the inevitable end those of us who have been critical of McCarthy since the autumn take no pleasure but do wonder when action will be taken to put the club back on a positive footing. The negative team selections over the course of the season have inevitably ended with us not scoring enough goals and not getting enough points.
How a club with six strikers can put out a 4-5-1 formation says loads about the style of football this manager feels comfortable with. It is terrible to watch and ultimately has proven to not result in us getting enough points.
Even without Kightly we have the players in Ebanks Blake, Keogh, Jarvis, Edwards, Olifinjana, Eastwood to send out a formidable attacking team at this level. But the manager chooses to send out a team to defend from the front, put in a shift, and provide little attacking threat to the opposition.
Please get Incey in before another team brings him into the top divisions. Please end this McCarthy era that started so well but has proven to not be of enough substance to make us the best team in the black country let alone the best team in this division.
another attempt at hit nad run, the team he picked was patehetic, we hqave scored the least number of goals but MM thinks ita good tyo lose 2-1 what planet does he live on. Still plays his favourites and must wear blinkers if he thinks his best mid-field players sre GRAY HENRY and POTTER.
Unfortunatly you have lost the plot please Mr MORGAN wake up and see what he is doing to our great club through his inept team selections.
A poor result, against an improving yet poor Preston side. If the penalty was not one, thats two decisions in consecutive games that have cost us! I dont like making excuses, because the game should have been killed off. However, it seems Chris Brown cheated, and a defeat is always tough to take when it is the doing of a darn right cheat. Pleased for Keogh, he must SURELY start now! Strange decision to recall Gray, seen as he was dropped from the 16 previously.
These Referee decisions though could cost MM his job!

Hi all the down trodden.
We all know that muppet Mick will not get us to the promised land and that hopefully by the end of the season Morgan will have seen sense.
But can we all show a bit of unity for the last 10 or so games of the season.
I know the football being played by this team in old gold is below what we expect but we ain’t going to get anywhere by bickering with each other.
LETS ALL AGREE TO DISAGREE, but at the end of the day we all have golden blood running through our veins and lets get behind this bunch of misfiring players and support our team like we did in Cardiff a few years ago. Best fans in the world that day.
Wolves will always be in our blood and that will never leave us. Put our opinions aside and let’s stick together like we did all those years ago in the dark old days of the Bhatti’s.
OUT OF DARKNESS, COMETH LIGHT.

Frustrating to say the least, but simply, we are not good enough at present. I like most have a question mark over MM and his team selection, but still, we’re not a top 6 side regardless of who goes out there and plays. We should not have to rely on one or two players to make a difference, we should (having one of the biggest squads in the league) have strength in depth. This is where I question MM and the board.
My only hope is that the younger players (Gleeson, Davis, Jones etc), in time will gel, stay fit and become good solid player as predicted by Wolves. I do think we will be there or there abouts this season, but 2009 and 2010 will be strong, based on our current crop of graduates, mixed in with what we have (Kites, Keogh, Jarvis, SEB etc).
Lets face it, we over achieved last season, and we are in a realistic position this. We don’t have the ability to beat teams comfortably, it’s by the odd goal, in games that could (and have) gone either way. Last year they fell for us, this year, not so much. Next season will be key.
Gold and black forever!
We might as well give Mick until the end of the season and then let him go. I have no issue with a team bedding in following a season of ‘over achievement’, but to constantly send out the same underperforming team, refuse to give others an opportunity and publicly state we’re looking for seven points from the next three games is ridiculous. Mick gave us a fantastic season last year following Hoddle’s departure, but he’s proved himself tactically inept and misguided in the trasnfer market. With a heavy heart, I say thanks for everything Mick but we need someone else to fulfil our ambitions.
Surely playing the whole first half defensive with SEB as an only striker tells me this manager is more afraid of losing . Start strong and take your chance and we might see how good our players are[ or not ]

Just read on the Wolves site that super MM changed to 4-4-2 to try and win the game !! Does that mean that while he was playing 4-5-1 that he wasn’t trying to win the game ? Sorry but the guy’s lost it. I think he has to walk before being pushed and he has to do it quickly. As I’ve said before I was prepared to go to the end of the season and weigh things up then but not any more.
The other great mystery is why pay £1.5m for Freddie Eastwood and not play him ? (although the Wolves site say him and kyle were sick – on Freddies part probably sick of not playing) Did McCarthy buy him just to prevent any other side getting him ?
Im afraid the guys stubborness and pig headed decisions to play his underperforming favourites will do for him . He has to go !! I would rather a new guy give the place fresh impetus for the remainder of the campaign and who knows – sneak into a playoff place. One things for sure – there would be a new air of optimisim in a bery stale Molineux right now !!

Stick with McCarthy, he’s a premiership manager in waiting. We’re in a realistic position. We over achieved last season. When Kites is fit! Fanny Craddock is the best defender at the club…etc, etc, etc…..blah, blah, blah.
Hopefully I will get a bang on the head and turn into a happy clapper, I’m sure they are generally happier people. They say ignorance is bliss!

Why do you lot get so whingey. We have had no chance of going up since the turn of the year. This season is about builing for next year so Mick must now acknowledge this and start experimenting with the kids. he must use this time to find out who will and who cannot make a contribution. This means defeats and wretchedness but it would also mean that we are better prepared for next year.
We are a moderate team with potential and nothing more. It’s time for Mick to be brave and to show that he is a much better leader than his current press suggests.
BRING IN THE KIDS. TRY BLAKE AND FREDDY. DECIDE ON THE BEST SYSTEM AND STICK TO IT.
DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT SO WE GO OUT WITH SOME POSITIVES AND NOT WITH A WHIMPER…..

I know everyone is disappointed and angry at the football we are playing but we have to stick with Mick and give him time 18 months is not enough.
Everton when Moyes took over finished 4th then were fighting a relgation battle, with a young team like ours this is what happens inconsistency. The lack of wingers this season has caused us the most problems with Mick not filling the gaps left by injuries to Jarvis and Kightly.
As for the next manager is we do sack Mick has gotta be Gus Poyet or Roberto Martinez.

What a joke, how can we play 4-5-1 when we HAVE to win, a point is no good at this point of the season. Damn. I was hoping Friday’s blog could be positive and inspirational! Unlikely now.
After a dour first half Mick bringing on Keogh did change things, but his starting team selection was as baffling as ever.
Do the players have a pre-match raffle to see if they got a game? How can Henry still warrant a starting place after his form lately?
It’s funny, I was reading the replies to my blog yesterday and somebody said I changed my tune in December and went from supporting Mick to wanting him out. Well, yes, I saw the light. I got sick of trying to be positive when the football was pants and Mick’s team selections baffling.
I never want us to lose a match, and fans that say that they hope we lose so that Mick gets booted out should have a little ponder. We are Wolves fans first and foremost and should always back the team to victory.
As I said yesterday, I do think Mick has shot himself in the foot targeting the 7 points out of 9, its just another stick we can all beat him with.
5 points off the play offs, 6 really if you look at our goal difference.
Anyway, I’ll have my little rant on Friday.
Even the happy clappers have stopped clapping. Now where are those rose tinted specs?

Which is it to be then? You start off your post saying “we have to stick with Mick”
And finish it with, “the next manager is we do sack Mick has gotta be Gus Poyet or Roberto Martinez.”
Do people still believe that Mick has the backing from the majority?

Being a loyal supporter (and a mug), I have renewed my season ticket for next season. I believe that the main problem this year has been the lack of leadership, both on and off the pitch. With all the crticism flying around the players and management have adopted a “siege” mentality with the fans and media. Its still not too late to rescue this season but there are plenty of lessons to be learned and I’m not sure the players and management will actually try and do so.
Lets follow the examples of Newcastle and Leicester and sack the manager too early, ohh look whats happened to them.
I would have thought that being Wolves you would be aware of the what sacking managers too early has done to us, its got us no where in 10 years.
The same will happen with the next manager unless he gets us promoted straight away or has a team scoring 3 goals every game. Be careful what you wish for.
Why is it when the fans can see that the Manager picks the wrong team, the press can see he picks the wrong team and in all honesty the players probably think he picks the wrong team !!Why cant the manager we had this under Bryan Robson (great player not a manager).
being a fan is so frustrating

90.Rowley, Wolves.
I think there could be a few nuggets turning up to TV Burp, but Mick would still be arrogant enough to think he could win. And if he did lose, he would blame the TV lights, Harry’s collar, the studio floor… anything except himself.

80 are you for real, i think that the real WW fans now know that MM is not your man.
Have you all seen the up turn QPR have made already, and they have stated that next year
they will be spending more, and yes I agree it is not always the answer, however it is if you have the
correct guy spending, and that my people has been your problem the wrong managers time and time again,
you have to get the next manager spot on. And you also have a lot of players that i feel no one will buy from you, unless mad MM gets a club foolish they would be.

Is it me or is neil collins and stephen elliott 2 of the worst signings the club has ever had? collins has given away a ridiculous amount of penalties and elliott does nothing? i love mick for what he done at my special club last season but he has taken us as far as possible! MICK NEEDS TO GO! I AM WRITING TO MR MORGAN TO EXPLAIN MY REASONS FOR NOT HAVING A SEASON TICKET NEXT SEASON, CAN EVERYONE ELSE ALSO WRITE TO HIM HE MAY ACTUALLY GET RID OF HIM AND THAT FAT IDIOT MOXEY. Its hard to say if he has the backing without a vote at Molinuex but that ain’t gonna happen. Of course if you do a radio phone in or a vote on a forum if will be a staggering ‘sack him’ vote due to the fact that the people that want him out, enjoy moaning.
I would stick with him.

roscommon_wolf you have finally seen the light!!
Comment 72, I suggest you need to go to a wolves match because you are talking out of your backside!
I made the journey up the M6, Not sure why I bothered. No freddie, not even on the bench. He will be gone in the summer unless MM goes. It goes to show that MM has lost the plot. £1.5M player and not even put him in the squad is beyond belief. How many more times is he going to keep saying, that we will be alright, wont look at the table until May etc etc. It just a big load of balls he spouts out. He ought to go on the comedy club as I am sure he will be a bigger hit then he is at the Moli.
1st half was a joke, the way we set up is that we were fearful of attacking teams. Karl Henry I am sorry but your days are numbered pal. Defence looked slow, midfield devoid of ideas M. Gray didnt know what his best position is. SEB is a massive prospect but dont be surprised if he gets tempted to move to a premiership club. He is class.
Second alot better especially we went 4-4-2. AK took his goal well and should have had a second. But they the old thing happened again, defence get easily turned, possibly not a penalty but it was given but we didnt fight back. Just another poor showing from a bunch of men who call themselves footballers. This league is so poor that we are still 5 points from the play offs and thats the whole point of this season. MM cant get a team to perform in this awful league what will he do if we got to the premiership.
MM needs to be sacked, end of season sack this donut. To all you MM lovers I hope you are satisfied with the progress of this team. Try travelling up to Preston on a tuesday night, get a wind chill, and watching your team getting beat and the mickey taken out of you. But I suppose its easy to back him from the warm comfy surrounding of your armchairs. “Not all of you as I am sure you go to the matches too”
I have said this for months and I hate repeating myself BUT Steve Morgan I am hoping you were paying attention to our result rather than whats going on at the san siro, but you need to add quickly in the summer. MM is dead man walking, he has lost the dressing, public spats with players and with fans, he is lost in his own MM world. SACK HIM FOR GAWD’S SAKE AND GET PAUL INCE IN!

First thing i am not a McCarthy lover just someone who wants the best for Wolves and thinks the best way forward is to stick with our current manager.
By the way before slagging off Wolves fans that don’t go to every game, some can not afford it and others have to go to work late nights and early mornings.

I reckon the real reason we play 5 in midfield away from home is because MM has no confidence our attcking play.
This really is getting humiliating. You have to say good luck to Albion. Lets see if they can finish the job…They couldn’t last year when they thought it was in the bag…
What hurts me is Moxey has the cheek to keep pushing prices up. Prices will go up again and for what. We are told that there is no panic policy and we have a young hungry squad. Fair enough – so how can you justify the prices. We are paying premiership prices for garbage.
I wonder if the MM and the powers that be at Molineux are feeling as low as me this morning. Knowing that full well that out season has been a complete failure. It does seems to be that MM thrives on a small budget and squad, but can’t do it with more funds.

Not much more to say really. MM has lost the vast majority of the fans, lost most of the players apart from his favourites. Still playing players out of position, still tinkering with formations that show no craftmanship or creativity. No wonder we can’t score or keep a lead. How many different Captains so far this season? Is it any wonder we are where we are? Mick must go now.

I’m so glad I didn’t go last night and I feel for those of you who did make the trip. I fear we may have to resign ourselves to this excuse for football atleast till the end of the season but I have a really bad feeling that unless we go into complete freefall and lose all of our remaining games MM will still be in the job at the start of next season. As somebody else has stated, there seems to be a seige mentality within the clubs senior staff which will not help.
I note that there are murmerings about a protest outside the Mol in the next couple of weeks both on these pages and from people who sit near me but I fear all this will do is make the rift between the pro MM and sack MM crowd even larger. As mentioned earlier, there is a seige emntality and MM would just use the protest as an excuse for the teams performance the next time we lose.
Time to grin and bear it lads and lasses

Come on lads! there are 10 games to go. you are 5 points behind Hull with a game in hand. You are 5 points behind Charlton with 2 games in hand. Fortunes can change very quickly in this division so there is plenty of hope left.A lucky win can lift confidence and everything improves. The fans seem to be giving up. If the players did the same you would have no chance. get behind your team! There is a very thin line between success and failure in the championship this season. As I say , you are only a few points behind teams in the playoffs yet their fans probably think they are having a good season and you think yours is a disaster!
MMs 4.5.1 system has been used by tony mowbray and resulted in 5 goals, so its not necessarily a negative tactic.

mick has more strikers to pick his single striker from in his 4-5-1 formation than he has midfielders to pick his midfield from!!
srikers = s ward,s.elliott j boothroyd,k.kyle,a.keogh,f.eastwood,s.e.blake 7 strikers for 1 place
midfielders = olifinyana,potter,henry,edwards,gibson…
kites…injured
gleeson, davis, jones kids shipped out or on way back from injury
so there we have 5 fit midfielders to fill 5 midfield places in away matches…..
so there shows how inept mick has been in the transfer window, we need midfielders to play in midfield not defenders or strikers…should have got in at least 1 midfielder permenant and at least 1 on loan …

But a team that is going to get automatic promotion should not have gone there to play 4-5-1. Then to change to 4-4-2, because he decided that he would alter the formation to win! Meaning the first formation was used anticipating a draw?
The man has no tactical flair, which is why we started the season well, but soon every switched on manager in the Championship quickly worked out how to beat Wolves.
Last night was no exception.

After Uncle Jack saved us I thought that we would be going back up where we belonged. However, that takes ambition, and the management of this club do not share that ambition.
Moxey is comfortable in the Championship, lots of risks in the Premiership. I had hoped that with Steve Morgan’s buyout we were going to move up to the next level. I now have grave doubts about the level of that commitment.
Just getting rid of McCarthy will not solve the problems within the club. There has to be a big clean-out. Only those who can perform, in whatever their role, at Premiership level should be retained.
I want to see Wolves back in the Premiership and European competition before I die.

I travelled to the game last night and the performance was dire. Potter was AWFUL all throughout, why Mick took off Edwards instead of him I’ll never know. Elokobi doesn’t look like a footballer at all and we let him take a free kick towards the end when we needed a goal? The defence as a whole was shocking and has been all season, it was the same last year yet McCarthy doesn’t strenghten. The only player he brought in was Ward and he is terrible. I think Mr Morgan will give McCarthy until the end of the season but after that he must go. We have talented youngsters who want to play their football for Wolves but week in week out he keeps faith in these wasters. Mick out!!!

Come on lads, the penalty was a little harsh I agree, but these thing level themselves out over the season. I think some of the comments are harsh. The most amazing part of this is that out of 144 postings, as i write this, 95% want MM out, along with Moxey (who should have gone along time ago). Comments aimed at Morgan who appears have lost his sight, forgotten how to read and doesn’t care anyway.
How is it that when the season started 95% were busy listening to Moxey con us along with Morgan about the future and strolling into the premiership? As they say “way too much on it”
Absolutely nothing has changed. Game by game we have seen a myriad of poor quality players play as expected a poor game. The manager who led the team to a diabolical pre season was the same one who lost to Morecombe! That was before we even started our real season. How can anyone complain as the season has unfolded?
The season was over before it started for the team. Remember, Morgan didn’t and won’t spend money on good players, MM gets hold of make weights who actually play like…make weights, and you have Moxey trying to find more ways than skinning a cat at getting us to still buy season tickets.
It doesn’t matter to these three does it? They huddle together and are quite happy with 11th. Keeps Morgan’s money stuffed in his pocket (this is assuming he actually has 30M), Morgan keeps Moxey happy with fat paychecks, Moxey keeps Morgan happy by not spending money and conning fans into buying again and MM (assuming he has a football brain) is quite happy to make do with poor cheap players from lower divisions so he keeps both Morgan and Moxey happy and he is staying.
This will continue. It’s all about business. Very little about football and achievement. It’s about keeping everyone employed and getting over 20,000 fans every week at home. That’s all that matters to those three. This is what will keep their jobs after this season and into next.
Wouldn’t it be great to actually have an owner and CFO who cared about the fans? I believe Sir Jack did care. Morgan and Moxey are the same in character. Little knowledge in football but lots of knowledge as how to con us fans and keep us coming back. They do run the place. This is their plan and can anyone really see it changing? I can’t.
Advance season tickets? maybe I would if they slice 50% of the price. Then I could at least attempt to pick the odd game next season when we might have something worth watching.
I really do feel for you lot, but face it Sir Jacks cash has gone and Morgan shows no real sign of splashing the cash. Wolves over achieved last season bearing in mind the mess that Hoddle left and it whilst this season is a disappointment no one has a devine right to success. Look at Preston’s home record especially night games and it is clear that its not an easy place to go. Keep it in perspective It is not as bad as you are painting it.
148 – good perspective. Preston are very tough opposition on their own ground just now and the play offs are esily possible for the Wolves.
And on a slightly less generous note, we may not have won anything yet at “Sandwell Towers”, but whatever happens the football has been sublime. No-one can argue that.
I take your point that Preston is not an easy place to go but in all honesty they are a poor, poor side and did not have to produce much to beat Wolves. We expect better but so what?? We’ve got fans who want to be up there with the the best, there’s nothing wrong with that. Morgan has given Mick cash and if he doesn’t wish to give him ay more, can you blame him?? The MAJORITY of Mick’s signings have been useless.
#150 brum-wolf, ah but if Morgan can’t trust his money being spent well by Mick, why does he allow him to stay? This isn’t dad giving his kid a pound for an ice cream and him wasting it on popcorn.

I think he wanted to give McCarthy a fair crack and give him until the end of the season but if he doesn’t get us in the playoffs he’ll be gone. At the moment we’ll end up mid-table and judging by the way we’ve played this season that would be a fair assessment. Hopefully we can get a new manager in the summer and get rid of all the deadwood and make a promotion push.
151,Preston a poor team….? your having a laff mate are’nt, we might’ve been an easy touch under than incompetant simpson… But preston under this manager are a very dangerous animal, watford charlton west brom leicester away derby away took portsmouth to the wire in the cup, and of course we’ve just done you lot…..
Look at your own team before calling us poor, Wolves last night showed no passion or desire for a scrap,
Mc’carthy’s tactics never change….. You wont make the play offs with those tactics mate…
its easy to call us poor for ur own teams failings…… get a grip, you lost because we wanted it more than you did.
Any assertion that the climatic conditions were to blame for the result are to be rubbished. The conditions apply equally.
As for complaints about the penalty decision.Well, it looks a little dubious, but this only impacts as an equaliser. The real problem is that at the moment, Wolves don’t show any confidence in their ability to put a game away. Hence they don’t and the cycle self-perpetuates.
Seven point from nine? Will six do?
If its possible to be positive about the lacklustre performances and all round negative tactics – we really need to realise that like Steve Morgan -Most Wolves fans we believe really want to see the club play at the top level- not a devine right blah blah BUT Is there something wrong with any football fans wanting to see top football at the club they support?
With regards to MM, Moxey and the rest – a few questions that we believe most of us already know the answers to:
1)Could MM attract and manage up to 6 Prem quality players and get them to gel with the rest of our better young cubs?
2) Could Moxey attract the same Prem quality players and sell the club to them ahead of any of our rivals that achieve promotion?
NB these two key characters at our club in our view and we are sure many other fellow Wolves fans do not believe that either MM or Moxey have the calibre or the nouse to compete at Prem level – So why continue to employ either of them?
Moxey has more than proved that he has no stomach for Prem negotiations and his PR is more than embarrassing – not a man who would make friends and influence people (the right people) to the club and as for MM well it speaks for itself!
We really hope that SM brings in his own people a trusted CEO that will promote our club positively and not sound off at the fans when he has no-one else to blame
The club with these people has created an anti atmosphere that has made fans that love the club react with anger – Why? because what we have been dished up with is not what we as Wolves stand for!
Win lose or draw – Our club always puts up a fight and its never for the lack of trying – Right now there is no spirit and not much to cheer – We look to you Mr Morgan – to stamp your authority and give us back the club we love – No more in a state of limbo
Cometh the hour Cometh the man – Paul Ince!
Up the WOLVES – Out with Moxey MM and all the other hangers on – players included!
