Wolves duo set for loan deal
Tuesday 11th March 2008, 1:35PM GMT.
Wolves are set to send Lewis Gobern and Mark Davies out on loan this summer to kick start their injury-hit careers.
The academy graduates are finally close to a return to training after a series of injury setbacks that have hampered their fledgling careers.
Boss Mick McCarthy is keen to have them fit and ready for next season – and is considering sending them abroad to play summer football to make up for lost time.
The unfortunate pair have a horrendous injury record that has stunted their progress in the gold and black.
Former England under-17 captain Davies has not started a league game for two seasons, while Gobern has been ruled out through injury since December 2006.
“They have both been out for a long time,” the Wolves boss said.
“Mark Davies got injured in my second game here and he’s had a bit part ever since.
“Sadly he’s not really figured and that’s a shame for him and the club because he’s a good player.”

just gets better every day here.
good move to send them out on loan especially after long term injuries, Stafford rangers perhaps,,,,?
unfit bench warmers we dont need lameies at mol
Report abuse
Can’t argue with that, they should both figure in our long term plans, with the potential that they’ve already displayed.

SUPERSTARDJWOLVES…
What would Mark Davies England U17 & U19 Captain at 16 yrs old gain from going on lone 2 stafford? yes we would be helping out God but they might as well gain experiance if there going out. League 1 is more suitable 4 him.
Get him in our team hes better than
Henry
Olofinjana
Potter
gibson
him and edwards CM.
Wacky

Does any one know if you can loan out a football manager or a chief executive ?
Wacky. They are going overseas in the Wolves close season. Wolves wont be playing so we wont need them. When they get back they will be fresh as daisys and ready to smash WOlves further up the Prem.
Stafford Rangers was a bit of a joke mate.

I’m not Mick’s favourite fan, but I can see here that his comments have been misunderstood.
Surely he said he was considering sending them abroad to play summer football.
Don’t think Stafford could be considered abroad and their season finishes at the end of April !!
Suspect he means one of the Scandanavian countries who play throughout our close season ?
Many English players have played in Sweden to recover from injury and get into shape again. So send the lads here for the summer and they will be back in top shape for the next season at Molineux.
Great idea……it will be interesting to see if it actually happens. What countries play in the Summer months anyhow? Southern hemisphere i guess.

So People good old Mad MM will be with you next year, Great News.

fed up about hearing about mark davies, even hoddle said he was good that says it all! well done mick ship him out and take all the other clownes with him
Report abuse
baggy 1.. and so will your lot.. that’s the bad news.
At least he’s mentioned the pair, he has always steered clear from even contemplating playing them. Davies particularly is quality!

Baggy 1:
I hope the Truant officer catches up with you!
he has always steered clear from even contemplating playing them
What are you on ?
Both have been INJURED dont you look on the Wolves website ?
He has spoken highly of both on many occasions.
I imagine they will be playing in one of the Scandinavian leagues
Report abuse
He could always ship them out on loan to Northampton…or have they reached their quota for the season?

G&B
Apologies. I thought there was a stage where Davies was fit, I’m sure I remember there being an article referring to Davies’ lack of 1st team oppurtunities, with the player himself revealing his frustrations.
I must be wrong, I thought I’d heard that somewhere
Report abuse
14 yes i hope they are after the season we have had so far,
at least we have been entertained, seen some good football, and scored lots of goals,
and we are off to wembley already once this season.
Still you have your Cup final tonight at Preston.
In MM we Trust great manager, Bring Back S Ward

19: Eddie. Yes he did reveal an article about his frustration. But his frustration was being unable to shake this injury.
Mick rates both of them highly. Lets see where they can take us next season. Along with Kites and Jarvis they have been very heavily missed.
COME ON WOLVES.

I WAS LIVING IN OREBRO SWEDEN AND THEY WOULD BOTH FIT IN TO THAT LEAGUE AND GET GOOD PHYSICAL AND MENTAL EXPERINCE
Report abuse
great idea, though i’d prefer south america to scandinavia(if possible)because they could learn so much.
it will also be good for our new manager,to have them fit & ready.
23. I can’t see that, they’d have to get work permits, etc outside Europe.
EddieWolf…
You are correct, Davies was fit at one point and did get a one or two runs in the reserves. Then he tore a shoulder joint and was back out again.
The good(?!) news is this was a different injury to the knee that has kept him out for most of the time.
Hopefully a spell on loan will get him through the period where niggles seem to be a regular event. I’m sure he will be able to put the bad luck behind him if he can get himself back in shape. He just needs to get through that danger time from fit to match fit!
This is all good, but just remember, they will have to come back to mol, and if MM is still here, wellcome to the bench.
Agree with comment 6, Mark Davies is a class act who is better than anything we have got in central midfield. If he is fully fit he should be given his chance to show what he can do. He could provide the service our strikers badly need. With our current squad we are struggling even to get into a play off position. Another mistake by Mick l am afraid!
I am not surprised to read some of the garbage from the so called Wolves fans.
Do they live in the real world? Yes, this season so far has been disappointing
but taking into account the number of injuries and the youth of the team,
I still think the team will show through even if it is next season.
My message is get behind the team as we did last year.
56 years a TRUE WOLVES FAN

Maybe he’s gonna send them to
Ireland and then when he brings them back
it’ll be like signing another couple of Irish players…
…at least they might get in the team then!

Quote MM
“He’s a good player,so i’ll send him off on loan.”
“I’ll keep the average ones here”
G&B… He spoke highly of Eastwood once then look what he did to him, anyone hazard a guess as to how many players we have sent out on loan that could quite easily be playing here in place of the current misfits?
Mick, you won’t be here next season the way its going. Minimum aims for this season were ‘Playoffs,’ Your not meeting those aims. Your a decent manager but you are now making silly excuses for results where last season you’d at least admit we’d played crap. Gobern is a right winger, Elliot is a striker, fitness doesnt matter he’d still do better. Davies is better than Potter, Henry and Gibson, Again the same applies. Also play Eastwood now, he’s at least our 2nd best striker next to SEB.
Give Mick first few matches of next season, or the same thing will happen to the squad as when Hoddle left. If he fails get the Guvnor in.
Now here’s a thought. The greatest benefit of them going off to Scandinavia for the summer is they will GET AWAY FROM OUR FLAMING MEDICAL AND FITNESS TEAM.
Come to think of it, all of those we’ve sent out on loan appear to be fit, healthy and injury free. Even Mark Little, who had to leave one match injured, was back quickly and remains injury free.
Doesn’t it just begger the question.
