Kidderminster gained revenge for their 5-1 drubbing at Grays earlier in the season thanks to a first half winner from Darryl Knights.

The on-loan youngster hit the target on 23 minutes to add to the goal he notched when Harriers thrashed Steve Bull’s struggling Stafford Rangers 6-0 at Aggborough the previous Tuesday.

Mark Yates’ men will now be trying to making it three league wins in a row for the first time this term when they visit high-riding Stevenage Borough for a televised clash on Thursday. 

Yates said: “Tuesday was good, but to me Saturday was probably even better. It was never going to be easy, but we worked hard and did the right things at the right time and we look like we’ve goals in us.”

Harriers, unchanged from the side that swept aside Stafford, again found a 4-3-1-2 formation to their liking with Knights playing just behind the front two of Iyseden Christie and Matthew Barnes-Homer.

 He again revelled in the role and was rewarded when he rifled in a sweetly struck 25-yard shot past helpless Grays goalkeeper Ross Flitney.

Harriers continued on to hold centre stage with the visitors front-runner Danny Kedwell having no chance to reproduce his hat-trick exploits when Yates’ troops were overwhelmed at the New Recreation Ground in August.

“We’ve got a back four that doesn’t look like it’s going to concede goals and perhaps the only thing for me was that we didn’t take enough of our good chances.

“But I don’t criticise people for missing chances as long as we keep getting them,” said Yates.

Kidderminster, who now need one more goal to reach the 50 mark in the league this season, failed to make the most of a number of decent opportunities, with the worst miss coming from Russ Penn in the 75th minute.

The hard working midfielder, with only Flitney to beat, fired high over the bar after Christie had fooled the Grays defence by leaving a menacing cross from hero Knights, who is starting to blossom following his loan move from Yeovil Town.
