Beccie Gibbons, from Rowley Regis, said she was shocked to win the contest, organised by Wolverhampton-based Sapphires Model Management and a high street fashion chain.

More than 2,000 hopefuls entered and Beccie was one of 26 who made it to the grand final.

The Halesowen College student was unveiled as the female winner – landing a modelling contract and £1,000 fashion voucher – at a ceremony in Birmingham yesterday.

Sapphires teamed up with fashion firm Bestseller to find a male and female face of the future.

Scouts from the Wolverhampton agency have spent a month sifting through applications following a series of road shows at the fashion chain’s stores nationwide. Beccie, who is studying theatrical and media make-up, said she was thrilled.
