Wolves star: Get behind us
Thursday 6th March 2008, 1:19PM GMT.
Wolves striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake today issued a plea for unity after the promotion push reached a crossroads.
The Molineux men slipped four points behind the top six after conceding a last minute equaliser in Tuesday’s game with Southampton – a situation that nearly bought McCarthy and skipper Breen to blows after the game.
Wolves were on a team bonding golf day today aimed at boosting morale ahead of the run-in, and Ebanks-Blake believes success in the promotion push relies on everyone sticking together.
“We’re all in it together, fans, players, management,” he said.
“We win, we draw, we lose together. The boys on the pitch are out there working hard – that can’t be doubted, and there’s no-one more disappointed after a result like this than the players.
“In the run-in to the end of the season we’re going to need everyone to back us because we’re all after the same thing, to get in the play-offs and get promoted.
“So why not back us, we can’t go wrong then you know.”
Ebanks-Blake – who is edging closer to the top scorer tag after a brace on Tuesday – still believes the top six is achievable.
Thanks to Albion’s cup progress Wolves have a weekend off, but they face a pair of crucial away games as soon as they return – starting with Tuesday’s clash with Preston.
And the forward thinks they have to recover from Tuesday’s disappointment as soon as possible.
“We need to start winning games but we are capable of doing it,” he said. “We’ve just got to pick ourselves up and not feel sorry for ourselves because there’s still a lot of games to be played.
“A few days without a game gives us a chance to recharge the batteries and look forward to next week and try and pick up some more points.”

All the fans are behind you mate – just watch out for the knives….
“Wolves were on a team bonding golf day today aimed at boosting morale”… I bet that went REALLY well.
Breen – “sorry boss, I just put one in the rough”
MM “WHAT !!!! We were leading the card with one hole to go….we only needed a minus 7 on the last hole and we would have won. Come here”…
MM chases GB across 17 holes whilst swinging a golf club.
LOVIN IT !

we are all behind you but the majority of us would be more behind you without that muppet as the manager. MICK OUT

a team “bonding” golf day !!! gets better and better. first go carting a few months back, then wrestling in the dressing room on tuesday nite, now golf !!! priceless. Shouldnt they be practicing defending ?? ………
and its Mr. Breen on the 1st tee, he has got his trusty driver out…….
“WHOOPA”…….”FOUR”……..”LEFT”…..
meanwhile Merlin was tickering around on the 7th………..he looked left.
Crash. “have that” said Mr. Breen.

I’m not having a go at SEB, who has took his chances magnificentlty in the last couple of games, but I think that the fans have been very, very patient this season. He needs to think of himself as sitting up there in the stands having to watch 60 minutes of insipid dross before issuing please for the fans to get behind the team. The fans do and will get behind the team if the team generate something to get excited about!. Ok, the play offs are still within reach, but the margin for error is now minimal. 74 points is the bench mark, so that leaves 23 required from 11 games. It’s improbable but not impossible.

Apart from “So why not back us, we can’t go wrong then you know”, which would appear a bit too optimistic even to the most optimistic of Wolves fans, I believe he is right. There is so little separating so many teams in this division, so a play off-place is definitely still on the cards, given a not too bad run of form and a bit of luck. I am as frustrated as anyone with the way this season has shaped and struggle badly to see how MM intends to improve things, but I can not see how in-fighting between supporters and less than full support from the stands can help us gain the results we wish for.

MM- ‘Right lads, everyone in a circle, lets have a group hug before we tee-off. Err, not you Breeny, you get to carry my golf bag’.

Very amusing HB. One bit to add though. Moxey had his pr people handing out pieces of paper to each player as the chase was happening. Turns out they were the players “own” take on things where the bust up and ensuing chase hadn’t happened, the changing room was like fluffy bunny land where everyone loves each other and they’d turned yet another corner in the chase for promotion

Happy, haven’t had the priviledge for a while !! How are you ? Like your humour mate, it’s a darn sight better than some of the bile that’s been going around for a while ! I wonder if this means that Breeny will now spend most of his time warming the bench a la freddie ? Honestly we don’t half like airing our dirty washing in public !! Still I like SEB’s drift. What mor can we do other than support the guys on the pitch ?

I’ll be there, as always, but I won’t be happy to watch more of the unskilled and untutored play that we got on Tuesday. It was 1st Division level, not promotion candidates.
Sylvan has been chosen to give the PR message, as Moxey presumes, quite rightly, that he has the fans respect and will not get dumped on like most of the other first-teamers.
Sylvan, give us another two like Tuesday and we might have a chance.
COME ON YOU WOLVES

Moxey seems to be very silent at the moment.
Hows the early bird going,
I will not buy this year, better to pick the games I want to go to, than sit through
that SH** ever again, and who came up with the idea of that Band that was also garbage.

Hiya Filton – not seen you on here for a while, but to be fair its that repetitive these days i rarely read to the end of the page so I may have missed your postings (I know how this story ALWAYS ends).
Yes I thought I would lighten the mood as some folk on here have forgotten what a laugh is (unless its in the 95th minute).
Anyway – good to see a fellow mellow fan again – we’re a dying breed on here.
Keep em coming….

Having seen the highlights last night of your game against Southampton, i thought you were robbed. It was never a penalty, i thought their guy was unlucky to see red, and SEB looks a great player.
I do not think the problem is in terms of bonding the team together but rather getting the fans back onside, if i was Mick and the players i would select a game and pay for the fans to come free of charge, fluff it up as a big thank you/PR exercise. See if it generates some positivity amongst the fans, then see if it rubs off on the players, get the right partner for SEB and he might just score the goals to get you in the playoffs and then who knows???
If the ref had done his job right on Tuesday you would have 9 points from 9, promotion form, but all i have seen is doom and gloom from all that is black and gold.
I appreciate the footy style has not been great this season, but maybe now is the time to just back them and see what happens.
All the best.

seb we are behind you mate, we are wolves and no matter what happens we still remain loyal. remember last seasons 6-0 drubbing, yet we sang our hearts out for 90 minutes. wolves fans are the most passionate, loyal and dedicated fans in the world. that’s why we take things to heart so much, we love our club and wear our colours with pride. we don’t need to be asked to get behind the team, our home and away support proves that. all we ask is that every game we play, our team fights ard for every ball and plays with the same passion and desire to win as the fans do in supporting you. we keep our end of the bargain week in week out, it’s the club who’s letting us down not the other way round.
but fair play to you sylvan, a damn good signing and you have our respect already, once the muppet’s gone hopefully you’ll be given a good partner ( keogh or eastwood ) and next season you can guide us to the premier.

Thanks 18….but Happy Baggie…when you’ve been given all these free hits you need to remember not to over-indulge. ‘Cos the day is getting ever closer when we’ll have our turn…it WILL come mate….I wonder how many of us will have the grace to back off when we’re faced with a grown man crying ????

SEB you’ve been class so far. He’s been lost in all this nonsense over the past few weeks. Imagine coming to a club and experiencing all this negativity despite performing as well as he has done recently. He’s spot-on in what he says, we need to be patient and get behind the team. A couple of wins and decent performances is all that is needed to transform our season. COME ON YOU WOLVES!!!!

We will always back the gold and black.
But when we see players who simply aren’t good enough being selected over others can you blame
us for being frustrated?

Mick signed Eastwood he said he was conned,
So he took him golfing to see if they could bond,
but boss golf ruins a lovely walk,
so do last minute levellers, so hush the talk,
i do not take losing lightly,
and it seems we are screwed without young Kightly,
but boss the fans they sing my name,
they just want you to give me a game,
i just do not think you are the right man,
when you turn up to games in your caravan.
All the best, just a bit of fun.

Novawolf – I thought you all had your turn last year when we lost to Derby – I didn’t see many people backing off then – however i wasn’t exactly crying either.
If I give it, its only cos i can take it – and yes – one day it WILL be your turn…
I just hope I can take it with more grace than the majority of people on here.
I’ve been a baggies fan for a long time – there is NOTHING this team will do that can make me cry (maybe if we win the FA CUP)

After driving 187 miles I had to sit and watch that rubbish. I dont know why but there is something wrong with our tactics. It showed up when we got the second goal from a great bit of football. That long hoof up the middle is no good at all

I agree, what a half hearted attempt. If your going to do it then get more players, ask them to learn more tunes and tell them when to play them. Utter rubbish!
Better still Moxey, just get rid of the band and the stupidly loud PA system and give us all something to sing about on the pitch. Then you might see what atmosphere is all about!

Just keep doing what your doing SEB and you will be fine. Cant say the same for Mick but if you do go mick please take TC and his pad (or was it a new coluring book on tuesday night) with you

When we finish in the playoffs will you be happy? hmmm thought NOT. This season is not over YET. Believe in us getting to the playoffs facing the Albion and getting promoted. It can happen guys. Even if we don’t deserve to as we have been poor. But what club has really stood out? Bristol for simply over achieving? The division is poor so why do any of these other teams deserve to reach the playoffs ahead of Wolves?
Bomber you are right it was never a pen, but in all your years of watching football have you ever seen a bigger gap than there was on that post on Tuesday in the 94th minute. Unforgiveable.

so what if we do make the playoffs, big deal. The playoffs are a lottery for poor teams like ours who arent good enough to contest the top 2 two positions against footballing super powers like stoke and bristol city.If you get a lottery ticket ,do you celebrate buying a ticket? ..no of course not.A 25 % chance of promotion isnt cause for celebration, how pathetic, what about challenging for the top 2?
we will not get in the top 6. the table does not lie. we only have 2 players good enough for the prem, hennessey and kightly and 1 of them is injured. kyle and collins would not even be signed by walsall on a free transfer. mccarthy is fast approaching hoddle as a tactical genius. there must be massive changes in may.

Rubbish SEB! We are not shareholders we are fans, we do not have the choice of selling our interest if we feel you are not doing well. For most of us we are born Wolves fans it goes back generations, you are a footballer with little or no loyalty to Wolves, just a stepping stone to bigger pay days and self-glory. Good luck to you SEB, I mean that, but do not take our hopes and dreams and turn them into nightmares and then turn on us, calling us geeks or nuggets!! You walked off on Tuesday without even acknowledging us, no respect whatsoever. Over 20,000 forked out half a million hard earned pounds to watch rubbish so please do not say we are not behind you!! Makes me so mad what Moxey forces you guys to do these things!
