Jones returns to Sixfields

jones.jpgWolves youngster Daniel Jones is set to rejoin Northampton today – as Mark Little looks to extend his stay at Sixfields.

Jones will return to the League One club after becoming frustrated by his lack of first team opportunities at Wolves.

The academy graduate has been reduced to one substitute appearance since returning to Molineux at the start of the year and played for the reserves last night.

He impressed in his first spell at Northampton, scoring three times in 19 starts, and Stuart Gray was keen to get him back for his side’s promotion push. But the Express & Star understands Northampton have been told Jones is not for sale at the end of the campaign.

And Jones may be linking up again with Little, who is looking to get more first team football before the end of the campaign.

The 19-year-old defender’s loan deal is due to end this week but he would welcome an extended stay if it is sanctioned by Wolves. “It’s up to both gaffers again if they want to extend my loan,” Little said.

“If Wolves want me back I’m a Wolves player and if Northampton want to keep me I’m a Northampton player.”“I love playing here. I’m getting my games, I’m enjoying it and I’d be more than happy to continue.

“I’ve got two games left and then after that it’s up to the boys in the two offices to sort things out.”

Yet another odd decision from Wolves and Mick McCarthy.
It seems if MM doesn’t like you then you have little chance of breaking into a poor team !

seems to me there are more players trying to get out of molineux than trying to get in the first team. the old saying “rats deserting a sinking ship” springs to mind. we thought the shambled end to hoddles reign was a low point, but boy, mick’s taking us down even further. mid table with a player & fans revolt emerging, roll on may and whatever that brings.

    EARLY BIRD ANYONE!!!

and the reason for bringing him back was an 18 minute substitute performance against Sheff Wed.

    Hmmm…..

Disappointing to witness the lack of support shown to our home grown talent. The message that it sends is clear:

You have virtually no chance of reaching the first team!

Good move here from McCarthy if he ain’t going to play them, they might as well go out on loan.

Hopefully he will bring both back when they have a bit more experience, next season.

last season MM was forced to use the kids and we did okay, this season he’s brought in his own players and look at the state of the football we’re watching.

    need anyone say more!

I was never too sure how good a player,Little, was to be honest.Because you’re younge does’nt mean you’re good.As for Jones,he’s a player I do rate but hey!they’re only going on loan, their still Wolves players.

Great news from the Cobblers point of view. Jones when getting regular football improved dramatically, whilst Little has been outstanding playing right side of a back 3. There is no doubt his arrival heralded an upturn in out fortunes having lost only once in games he has played, and that being a game when he was substituted due to injury

It the young ones I worry about most.

They were hungry Wolves last season, now they are probably disillusioned and doubtful about their future at Wolves.

Managers come and go, the fans can cope with that, but I just hope that we can keep the academy producing quality players like these two and Wolves can keep them.

Things will change at Molineux, and the lads will get their chance, I’m sure of that.

stop messing this kid about wolves.

he is obvously a good prospect
dont put him in a situation where he cant wait to get out of the door.

either make him a wolves fixture
or give him a long term fixed loan for experience

Excellent business by Moxey. Wolves will be getting £15 loan fee a match if he plays. Gary Breen has told Mick that when he was at junior school he was always on the wing, watchout for the teamsheet against Preston

“YOUNG HUNGRY TALENT” = a TERRIFIC season last season.

“experience” = a poor, pathetic season this season.

    figure it out ?
