Time to map out a plan for Villa's future

Wolves scorer stays positive
Wednesday 5th March 2008, 11:26AM GMT.
Sylvan Ebanks-Blake insisted Wolves have to take the positives out of their disappointing last gasp draw with ten man Southampton.
The Molineux hitman took his Wolves tally to five with a pair of goals last night but it didn’t secure Mick McCarthy’s men all three points as Saints hit back at the death.
It left Molineux deflated and a raging McCarthy in an apopletic mood – but Ebanks-Blake insists it is not the death knell for their play-off hopes.
“It’s disappointing, everyone’s disappointed and no one more so than the lads in the dressing room, manager and all the staff,” he said.
“But what we can do? It’s a point, we didn’t lose the game so let’s try to take a positive out of it.
“If you look at it now, after losing a few games we’ve probably become a bit more consistent with two wins and a draw – seven points out of nine over the last three games.
“On reflection it’s not all bad, we’re progressing which is the main thing.”
With 18 goals this season Ebanks-Blake is edging closer to the magical total of 20, but he says that is no consolation as the team lost ground on the top six.
“It would have been brilliant if we’d won after I scored twice. It would have been ideal,” he said.
“But I’m really disappointed with how it finished.
“Although we didn’t play the best football we battled and took our chances and at the end we’ve only ended up with a point.
“I’m happy to have scored but if you took my goals off me and gave us the three points then I’d take it.”

Last night was a real wasted opportunity. A win would of given us a chance to force our way back into the
playoff’s but that last gasp leveller means our poor form and shaky performances continue at home.
I’ll never write off the Wolves but a mid table finish looks highly probable…..

a shame because this guy is a class act. 3 chances in 2 games, 3 goals. says it all.

Well said SEB, you should be wrapped in cotton wool until our next game, god help us if you picked up a knock!

SEB was the only positive last night.
We need to try and keep hold of this lad as I feel the vultures will be hovering over him and Kites in the summer

A Class Act! Two superb finishes!
How strange…those goals went in the moment we brought off Kyle. The reason? Because his replacement suits SEB much better, not hoofball with Kyle!

wolveswolves:
You express your concern about SEB & Kites.
If you look at the bigger picture,Wolves HAVE got a good young squad.Player of the Season elect,Hennessey, Keough, Henry ( when he can be bothered)& Matty Jarvis.
It just needs MM to have belief in the rest of the younger players & seek suitable replacements for the ageing Craddock,Breen etc & this team CAN go places!

JUST IMAGINE IF HE WAS ALONG SIDE A FIT KEOGH (HE WAS NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS FIT LAST NIGHT!) AND HAD FREDDY JUST BEHIND THE TWO???? I MEAN IM KNOW MANAGER BUT THOSE 3 SHOULD BE IN THE SIDE WITH THE WAY THEY ARE PLAYING AT THE MOMENT NO QUESTION

must be keogh and SEB for rest of season, they started well together before mick decided to bring womans coil, sorry kyle in and then dump keogh on wing!!

Kent, Henry and Jarvis both had stinkers yesterday mate, they will not be in the player of the season elect!

Anyone noticed how edwards doesn’t make as many of those darting runs through the middle any more! Mick is turning him into another Henry/Potter.

10 Andy:
Spot on mate! I’ve noticed that bar two opening brilliant performances, Dave Edwards’ impact is fading hugely!
As for Kyle, keep the ‘impact player’ to make an impact off the bench me thinks! We dont want to see hoofball tactics right from Kick-Off…only if things are going wrong!

Think what he could do with eastwood next to him, instead of the worlds worst player kyle!

The only positive that you can take from this match is that the defence is absolutely CRAP and should be sent to the 3rd team to train with the Juniors. HOW CAN YOU NOT DEFEND A CORNER LIKE THAT WITH 30 seconds to go? Freddie must be given a proper run, although having said that his confidence must lower than a snakes belly!!

The mood amongst the supporters was summed up when we had our first shot on goal close on 60 minutes gone. An apathetic, sarcastic round of applause rippled around Molineux. I must admit, that first half came close to being the worst I have ever seen (and yes i did go occasionally during the div 3 and div 4 days) it was just so dull, unimaginative, predictable and boring. A case of ‘where’s Kevin Kyle gone? – oh there he is up there and wallop in to the night sky. Realistically, the season is now over. I am unable to see Wolves win 7 or 8 of the last 11 games. As for MM, will he go at tghe end of the season ? Don’t know, but if he is still here i’ll give him until November.

Kent: I don’t disagree with you.
We have a squad with huge potential.
We have a manager who can’t use them though or doesn’t use them effectively.
The risk is though that if we don’t go up their desire to play at an higher level will lead us to
lose some of them. In the summer we need a manager who can give them the belief we are the club
that can meet their desires.

Sylvan played like a Wolf. He’ll do for me. He has talent and he tries. That is all the fickle fans at Wolves ever ask for.
It’s not the fans that are fickle over players, its the poor managers we have had for so long.

i went to the match last night and to be honest i thought game was boring but do people think SEB reminds you of steve bull all raw power

keep banging the goals in SEB and you’ll get your move to the prem soon enough!

Kightly, Keogh, Eastwood, Murray (still unsure about wayne),Jarvis, Ebanks blake, Dave edwards, Elokobi, bothroyd, little, dan jones. With kites and jarvis fit i would love to see ebanks and freddie feeding off their crosses. If we get big sammy allardyce we will see alot more positive football.

15.you say we have a squad with huge potential half of this squad would not get a game at stafford rangers we need a lot more quality and a new manager.

SEB iz a diffrent class to every 1 else in wolves e stands out a mile off 3 goals 2 games fair play

10 + 11. Why would McCarthy sign that type of player if he didn’t want to use him in that way? I think Both Edwards and Henry were poor in terms of trying to make things happen but we were guilty of trying to use Kyle too much last night. He’s a good option but would be more effective if we tried to hit him from the wings. SEB looks class. Potentially the most istinctive striker since you-know-who.

Christ not the keogh fan club again, the lad cant hit a donkeys a** with a banjo, give it a rest.He shouldnt be anywhere near the starting 11,since when has weak shooting, poor technique and no upper body strength been the qualitys needed by a decent forward…just runs and runs and runs
