Black tie do at glitzy hotel ballroom

Tuesday 4th March 2008, 11:33AM GMT.

The Mayor of Wolverhampton Councillor Trudy Bowen with staff from the Ramada Park Hall HotelIt promises to be one of the most dazzling events of the year, as a city mayor organises one of her final charity fundraising pushes before her year in office is out.

The glittering black tie charity ball is the biggest fundraising drive staged by Councillor Trudy Bowen and is set to pull in thousands for her charity fund.

Hundreds of people, donning their finest dinner suits and cocktail dresses, are set to pull up to Wolverhampton’s Park Hall Hotel for the Hollywood-style bash.

Chandeliers and candelabras will be transforming the glitzy hotel ballroom for the charity celebrations which are being held from 7.30pm on April 25.

And organisers are now being urged to snap up their tickets to be part of the event.

Ticket order booklets are being created and shipped out to the mayor’s loyal fundraising supporters.

And people can learn about the festivities through the mayor’s office.

Up to 500 people are expected to flood through the hotel’s doors to help boost Councillor Bowen’s charity fund.

The charity fund will be split between the Rheumatology department at New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton, a charity called the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association, and a charity for villages in India called Khandel Light when her term comes to an end in May.

Councillor Bowen stressed: “It is going to be a fantastic night.

“We never set exact fundraising targets but we are certainly hoping to raise a lot of money from the night,” the mayor went on to say about the event.

“There will be one more charity event before the term is finished but this is the biggest one of them all.

“It should be great,” she added.

Guests will be entertained by a string quartet as they arrive and a magician will be adding some sparkle to the night.

Following a traditional English or Indian three-course meal revellers can then dance the night away along to the RC Show band.

Businesses are being urged to book tables and also donate prizes for an auction and raffle on the night.

Tickets for the event cost £25. They are available by calling 01902 554090 or emailing mayoral@wolverhampton.gov.uk.
