Yolanda and Martyn Fletcher with their twinsMother’s Day will be twice as nice for Yolanda and Martyn Fletcher who are celebrating the birth of their twin daughters.

The couple from Rowley Regis had been trying for seven years for a baby – and now two have arrived at once after successful IVF treatment.

It was Father’s Day when Martyn discovered the news of the pregnancy the couple had been praying for.

Yolanda moved to England from Colombia to be with Black Country-born Martyn and they were married in 2000.

She said: “It was disheartening when I was not getting pregnant. I suffered a miscarriage and but 2006 we were told we could have IVF.”

Martyn, 44, a forklift truck driver for Midland Fittings, said: “When we did the pregnancy test it was Father’s Day. I was over the moon.”

The babies were born on January 18 at around 6.50pm with Phoebe weighing 2lbs 9oz and Erika at 3lbs 4oz.

“I never thought I’d get to celebrate Mother’s Day as a mummy and so tomorrow will be very special,” said Yolanda.
