Bully swoops for Wolves youngster

Steve Bull was today closing in on his first signing as Stafford Rangers manager – Wolves reserve striker Liam Hughes.
The Molineux Academy teenager was set to sign for Rangers on a month’s loan in time for Bull’s first home game in charge against Farsley Celtic on Saturday.
The move is with a view to keeping him for the rest of the season if he does well.
“Hopefully he’ll score some goals for us which is what we need,” said Bull. “He’s young and enthusiastic and he’s got 12 for the reserves this season.
“I can’t keep him for longer than a month initially, but if he does well, I’ll break the bank to keep him.
“I’ve heard great reviews about him from Mick McCarthy and Jez Moxey, so hopefully he’ll do the business for us.”
Hughes has recently returned from a loan spell at League Two Bury, where he played five games, four as substitute. The Rangers boss is desperate to bolster his side’s firepower in time for his first home game in charge with three frontmen sidelined.
Mario Adaggio (ankle) Nathan Smith (thigh) and Del Olaoye all missed Tuesday’s fine comeback 3-3 draw at Histon.

Why not also send out lazy Boothroyd, Hopeless Ward and “speedy gonzalez” Breen to Stafford Rangers? Maybe then Mad Mick will play players that actually deserve to be in our team.

A GOOD PLACE FOR YOUNSTERS TO GO ON LOAN, LESS UPHEAVAL OF FAMILY LIFE AND NOT TOO FAR FOR WOLVES STAFF TO KEEP A CHECK ON THEM, HOPE STEVE (NOT PERSONALLY) CAN BREED A FEW OF HIS OWN AND PASS INTO WOLVES SYSTEM. WOLVES AS A CLUB OWE STEVE BULL AFTER HIS FAITHFULLNESS.

what a move for bully, hughes and wolves he is a class act and he will score some goals under bully. this will be a massive learning curve for hughes and bully will teach him alot!! great for everyone involved!!!

Terry (6) – surely it is ambitious for a young striker to get advice and the chance to play for a striking legend. Bully himself played non-league (and even at the lowest point of his career at the poorthornes) before eseeing the light and becoming a Wolves legend and England striker.

bully played non league for tipton then he left them to go even lower down the chain to play for a team called west bromwich albion then he just joined the might wanderers!!

Why do our fans use even this thread to criticise our team? Let’s focus on the fact that one of our young boys is getting some first team experience and is going to learn under the wing of one of the finest players in our history. A great story all round. Lets be positive, lads. Up the Wolves!!!

Bully is going to do well. Why? Because he is football through and through not an academic or an intellect. Okay if you are Wenger you will produce the beautiful flowing football of Arsenal, he is a thinker and strategy is his strength, but he plays players in their true position. Then we have Warnock who is crude in every sense and gets together a bunch of thugs and sets about winning ugly, limited success but success. We then have MM who ‘thinks’ he is smart but lives in a fantasy world somewhere between Wenger and Warnock. Result is messy ugly football and confusion amongst fans and players. Now our Bully will manage as he played, from the heart, he will not play people out of posistion or confuse the hell of of them with ‘ideas’. He will send out a fit, highly motivated team and tell them to enjoy scoring goals because that is what football is all about. Ask Alex Ferguson. I hated United but watching them demolish Newcastle was pure footballing joy.
Bully will succeed, he’s a natural.

Carribean Wolves – are you suggesting that Mick didn’t play with heart? I remember some great clashes between him and Bully, both players committed and full of desire. Bull has gone on record saying that he knew he was up for a battle when he faced Big Mick. This season has certainly been a very disjointed one but we’ve suffered from a number of injuries to key players, Murray, Breen, Craddock, Kightly, Keogh, Jarvis etc. Last season however, when we had few injuries of note, we were a different outfit altogether, playing free-flowing football with a young, fast team. We were never accused of being “ugly” or “confused” despite having by and large the same players. The difference is that fans like yourself have failed to realise that we have had a number of injuries and have continued to put pressure on the team.

Sorry but if Liam Hughes is the star of the Wolves Academy then on Saturdays showing you have problems of your own. I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt for now as it was his first match for Rangers so won’t have settled in and the team didn’t exactly perform like they can do anyway but I don’t recall him timing a header right or effectively competing for a 50:50 ball all match. All the defenders had to do was stand behind him – if it was a high ball it went over his head and if it was a low ball he didn’t seem to have the ability to turn his marker and if your striker isn’t striking then your chances of winning are going to be slim. Which isn’t saying the rest of the team played exactly well (apart, as ever, from Messrs Street and Grayson), the bigger the gate the more the chances are Rangers play rubbish – t’was ever thus!!
