seismographThe biggest earthquake in the UK for nearly 25 years has shaken homes across large parts of England including the West Midlands.

It struck just before 1am this morning.

WOW! I have never ever felt shaking like it!
I had been asleep for about 2 hours and was woken by the building being shaken. I just woke up and thought “Earthquake – again. Cool!” (I am a physical geography and geology student at Keele so you can understand why I was excited!. Everyone in my block (uni halls) ran onto the landings to talk about it. I couldn’t get back to sleep for an hour or two though.

as I can remember. Then she said it might be the monster from Cloverfield!!! Very amusing :)

I was reading in bed and the house started to shake quite badly. I was scared stiff. It even woke my husband which is a miracle in itself and he matter of factly said it was an earthquake as if we have them all the time. He then promptly went back to sleep leaving me worried the house was going to collapse.

I live over in Telford, I had just got in at about 1am and collapsed on my bed, then everything rattled. But, bizarrely enough, I thought one of my parents had fallen out of bed and so I just ignored it. It was only when I was buying cigarettes at Asda this morning and somebody mentioned the earthquake to me that it finally clicked…

Earthquakes are no fun at all.Experienced a bad one

Could it be something to do with all the natural

    settling down again?I wonder!

Sometimes it takes me a while to get to sleep – and I was lying there, in bed, well on my way, when I felt shaking. I couldn’t really explain it, had no real idea about what was happening. But then a friend mentioned about an earthquake hitting north of London, and I realised what had happened. Really strange, never felt anything like it.

it did not hit my mind what it could of beeen
i thought it was just a passsing lorry and then i realised that lorrries would not passes on my private street..
i was shocked to realise the truth so i ran inside my house turning on the sky news where it had told me and millions of people what had happened.

So if its cliched you want to be then i guess i should say that up here in the North West where I live now, mother nature is just confirming what we have known all along about Britain’s second city. Yep, Manchester Rocks alright! Well really, you didn’t expect me to suggest that the second city was Hull did you?

All this quake did (well in our house anyway)was move the bed once. and than I heard some rattling noise for 5-10 seconds afterwards.

But I suppose it’s becuase I live less than a mile from the epicenter of the Dudley quake, and 100 miles from the one last night.
