Team’s hitch with their pitch

Unhappy Tipton Ladies captain Faye Harrison, front left, with coach Paul Harrison, club secretary Susan Albrighton, and team membersA women’s football team has been left with no pitch to play on after the land players used was declared too dangerous.

The Tipton Ladies team had been using a pitch at the town’s Sports Academy, which the team rented for home games.

But subsidence has been blamed for a gaping hole discovered on the pitch and the land has been deemed too risky to play on.

The team is now desperately seeking somewhere to host its home games.

Although other pitches in the area have been identified by the team, most of them are well out of the club’s limited price range.

A pitch allocated for the men’s team, on the same site, costs £135 per match.

Captain Faye Harrison said: “It’s hard enough as it is for women to get into football. There’s no way we can afford that kind of money.”

Call Faye on 07834 762106 if you can help with the search for a new pitch.
