Detectives investigating the discovery of thousands of pounds of crack cocaine have arrested two Birmingham men in Aberdeen.

The haul followed an intelligence operation in the Rosemont area of the city.

A 46-year-old Aberdeen man was also arrested.

Police have revealed dealers can make vast profits by selling drugs in the Scottish city.

Gangs started looking elsewhere when Wolverhampton became saturated with dealers selling crack cocaine in 2002. Drug runs between the West Midlands and Aberdeen are well-known.

Heroin and crack cocaine sold in the West Midlands for just £10 can go for £80 north of the border.

Earlier this year, five men were jailed for a minimum total of 135 years for killing Wolverhampton man Kevin Nunes. Mr Nunes had been trafficking drugs between Wolverhampton and Aberdeen, provoking anger among rival dealers.
