Albion defender upbeat on contract
Thursday 14th February 2008, 3:22PM GMT.
Albion defender Martin Albrechtsen today said contract talks were going well and he hopes his future lies at The Hawthorns.
The 27-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and has been in discussions for several weeks.
But he hopes they will conclude with him signing fresh terms in the near future.
“Discussions have been going on and the club have been speaking to my agent,” said Albrechtsen.
“I am happy here and I would like to stay. Hopefully my future will be sorted out soon, but I have not spoken to my agent recently.
“Hopefully there should be an agreement in the next few weeks.”
Albrechtsen has recently returned to the Albion defence after injury and is confident the Baggies can return to winning ways and secure automatic promotion.
“We are only three points off top spot, so of course we can go up automatically,” he said.
“That’s what we are all aiming for and that’s where I want to play my football – in the Premier League.”
