Kidderminster manager Mark Yates has challenged his players to prove the pundits wrong when they travel to face Blue Square Premier big boys Torquay tomorrow.

Harriers head for Plainmoor to face a Torquay side second in the table six points behind leaders Aldershot with two games in hand.

And Yates has told his new-look team they have nothing to lose against the promotion chasers.

He said: “We’re aware that nobody gives us a hope of getting anything down there but we are looking forward to the game and the chance to get stuck in and show what we’re capable of.

“It will be a tough test for us against a good side and we are all aware of that.

“But it is a test we are looking forward to and we can all prove a few people wrong.

“We did well against Northwich last weekend considering the team had pretty much been thrown together on the final day of the transfer window.

“But we know this match will be a completely different test and we will have to step our performance up another level to really test Torquay.”

Yates has a slight injury concern over new captain Russ Penn, who suffered bone bruising in his leg during last week’s match against Northwich.

But Yates is hopeful that the all-action midfielder will be passed fit to play.

And otherwise he has a fully fit squad to select from.
