goal.jpgNew boys On the Ball Academy picked up their first victory in the Spring League after an entertaining contest with All Saints Juniors.

A hat trick from Joel Waite and goals from Kian Parkes and Aidrian Doogan helped them pick up the points with Charlie Street, with a brace, and Joseph Hall replying.

They followed that up with a draw against Stone Cross Academy (Lions) when Joel Waite’s excellent strike was cancelled out by a goal from the Lion’s new signing Darien Stone. The Lions had earlier recorded their first Autumn League campaign victory when they beat stable mates Stone Cross Tigers in a five goal thriller with Darien Stone, with a brace and Ayden Bogle on target for the Lions with Reece Law netting both goals in reply for the Tigers.

The Tigers bounced back to take a share of the spoils with All Saints Juniors with Reece Law again on target for the Tigers and  Joseph Hall for All Saints.

Two victories each for Bentley Youth and FC Strollers saw them edge clear from the rest of the teams at the top of the Spring League.

Jake Powers bagged all four goals as Bentley beat Vic Market Tigers while a hat trick from Harry Shaw, a brace from Jake Powers and goals from Josh Toye and Keiran Francis helped them beat F.C. Perton while two goals apiece from Kian Dwyer and Gianni Boparon helped F.C. Strollers beat F.C. Perton.

It was a much closer affair in their final game of the day against Vic Market Tigers where a goal each from the Kian Dwyer and Gianni Boparon helped them to an odd goal in three victory with Liam Jones on target for the Tigers.

The final matches in the group stage of the Scott Lloyd Charity cup were played today, with the top two teams in each group going forward to contest the final.

In Group A the opening match of the day brought together group leaders Perton and Codsall West and second-placed Lane Head, with Lane Head running out 4–1 winners. Russell Heathcock hit two, with Kameron Singh-Moore and Jack Whitehouse also on target. Daniel Slyde scored P and C’s goal, but Lane Head’s win took them to the top of the table. In their final game against Wednesfield Lane Head ran out 2–1 winners, with Ricardo Gerald scoring twice, while Wednesfield had to settle for a goal from Jamie Goodwin.

It wasn’t to be Wednesfield’s day as they then went down 2–0 to Perton and Codsall West. Wednesfield hit the bar and the upright and certainly deserved to get something from the game but goals from Daniel Slyde and Matthew Finney gave Perton and Codsall the result which saw them clinch a place in the final, where they face Lane Head.

Group B always looked like being a close-run result, although FC Perton clinched their place in the final with a comprehensive 5–0 win over Perton and Codsall East, who were lying third in the group with a chance of a place in the final.

Andrew Shave hit a brace, and Oliver Matthews, Aaron Green and Bemellah Azimi also found the net. Meanwhile a brilliant four goals from Jack Richards of Wolverhampton Development Pumas gave them victory over club mates Wolverhampton Development Panthers, whose only goal came from Tyler Cartwright.

Perton and Codsall had earlier beaten Rowley Rangers 2–1 with goals from Sam Forster and Jake Sharman and Rowley’s reply coming from Lewis Fletcher, so Pumas needed a point from their last game to take the last place in the final, and luckily they had two goals from Jack Richards to thank, as they fought out a 2–2 draw with Rowley, Daniel Dudley also hitting a brace.

Group C was the most open of any of the groups, and became even wider when Bentley Youth and All Saints Juniors – first and second respectively – faced each other and ended up sharing the points in a 2–2 draw.

Oliver Aston and Jordan Sherwood scored Bentley’s goals, with Ryan Williams and Jake Peake on target for All Saints.

This opened the door for Ashbourne Raiders to join the chase, and a 1–0 win over Stone Cross, with Charlie Irving scoring, saw the gap on the top two close.

Pensnett Harriers, who started the day at the foot of the table, went on to a 3 – 1 over the group leaders with goals from Daniel Starns, Tyronne Spair and Jack Pearson, Jordan Sherwood again scoring for Bentley, and Pensnett followed this up with another 3–1 win over All Saints, with Tyronne Spair, Liam Hawkins and Ben Jones on target.

The result of this is that Pensnett emerged from bottom of the table to the runner-up spot, and a place in the final.

Congratulations to them, and also to their opponents Ashbourne, who headed the group with a 6–1 win over St Joseph’s Colts and perhaps the best individual performance of the day – a fantastic five goals from George Brittain. Callum Bradley scored the other, with St Joseph’s goal coming from Ben Dutton.

Things weren’t so tight in Group D, where Coven United Colts and Salisbury were almost certain to retain the top two spots, and so it proved, although they played each other to round off their fixtures, and Coven ran out 5–0 winners thanks to a hat trick from Ciaran Singh and goals from George Edwards and Jack Haig.

Third-placed Bustleholme needed two substantial victories to catch Salisbury, and a hat trick from Luke Bennett and a goal from Delmaro Channer in a 4–0 over Prestwood Rangers put them in with a chance.

But a 0-3 defeat to Coopers Casuals, who had Jordan Law-Edwards, Ben Plant and Lee Bowden on target meant they could not catch the leaders, while Coopers themselves then went on to a 2–0 victory over Prestwood, with Joseph Arrow scoring both goals.
