Time to map out a plan for Villa's future

Striker leaves Walsall
Thursday 31st January 2008, 11:04AM GMT.
Striker Michael Ricketts has left Walsall after failing to agree a permanent deal to stay at the Banks’s Stadium.
The striker has a long contract at Oldham and the only way that Walsall could sign him this season now would be if his contract at Boundary Park were terminated, at which point the player could join as a free agent.
“From our point of view we want to see a fit Michael Ricketts before we take it any further,” Money said.

Whats that? you wont pay the money again? come on Bonser!
And you wonder why nobody wants to watch your team!!!
Hope you enjoy the Fox money, you really don’t deserve the crowds you do get.

Typical walsall,no ambition,Bonser and money stop blaming the fans and take a long hard look at your way you are running the football club.

There was never any chance of Ricketts signing for Walsall, because he wouldn’t have come cheap. Perhaps if some of the ‘Fox’ money could be prised from Bonser’s grasp, a few more supporters might feel inclined to turn up.

How flaming stupid can people be.
No ambition?
We’re the reigning champions and are in the play off places.
The Fox money?
Where do people think the money for loan strikers and players’ wages come from?
Nobody wanting to turn up?
We’re playing brilliant football and expanding and improving on all measures.
Sign Rickets?
It would be great – but NO CLUB ANYWHERE signs a player while that player is injured. Show ambition? yes please – but not recklessness.

I could have predicted this weeks ago. JB will never show enough ambition to fork good money out. We didnt even have to buy Ricketts, we could surely have just paid his wages for the rest of the season. Where is the Fox money? Its probably topping up the pension fund as we speak. We didnt show ambition when we were near the top of the championship, and we wont now either!!!!

To be fair I think its a good decision not to sign Ricketts, I think DD had got the best out of him, he hasn’t played for the last 5 games because of injury. Although how serious the injury was I dunno, I think his head went again! Signing Ricketts would have been a costly mistake.

I really cannot understand any of these anti -Bonser stuff here.
People get real.
1. The man is injured.
How many people would be on here moaning if we signed a crock ?
2.Ricketts is under contract to Oldham until 2010.
The only way we could sign him at the moment is if Oldham release him from that contract.
I haven’t heard anything about them doing this.
We could of course stupidly break the bank and pay Oldham over the odds to take over his contract, possibly paying him an absurdly high amount of money for another 2 years whilst he sits on a treatment table.
Surely the best option – the one that has been taken- is to wait and see how the injury goes, and then possibly loan him again.

it’s going to be a shame if we miss out on going up, just because we lacked a little ambition to sighn a few players, if we went up think of the crowds next season, the away fans alone would pay for the investment made now.

Just what i have come to expect from DD. A sensible, considered decision. Signing ricketts would have been a grave mistake, bet there is another striker being lined up already.DD knows his stuff. Have faith.
