Grasshoppers lose bounce
Wednesday 30th January 2008, 9:37AM GMT.
In the first division of the Wolverhampton City Netball League, Grasshoppers scored less than a quarter of the goals forged by opponents Chasers, whose daunting centre-court line-up of Chris Bentley, Becky Edmunds and Kaye le Page were far too strong.
Division 5’s youngsters faced each other in a sizzling show of energy – Chasers Juniors losing out by one goal to Molineux Juniors. There were two
particularly powerful performances by centres Natalie Dando and Lucy Le Page.
In the Non-Winners Knock-Out semi-final, DK Ladies and Chasers entertained spectators to a battling 40 minutes with the attacks of both teams (Sheila Wilmore, Helen Parkes, Myrtle Robinson and Becky Edmunds) keeping up a flow of shots despite being contained by strong defences (Sally Payne, Debbie Wilmore, Sarah Guest and Kaye le Page).
The final 10 minutes, however, gave Chasers the chance to produce an eight-goal lead to reach the final.
