If a bog standard two-up-two-down isn’t quite your cup of tea, then the iconic Cube apartments in Birmingham’s prestigious Mailbox complex could be right up your street, writes Lara Page.

    But at what cost? To live in that city you have to be extremely rich – you have to be very well off just live anywhere half-decent in this area.

    Given the choice between a shark-infested island like this, I’m sure a lot of potential tenants will simply opt for cheaper, more spacious environments. Birmingham needs to get it’s act together if it wants to attract people and this isn’t the way forward, not for the majority. I’d rather live in a big house in Europe.
