FA Cup is priority for Wolves
Friday 25th January 2008, 11:26AM GMT.
Mick McCarthy today insisted the FA Cup remains a major priority for Wolves.
The Molineux men travel to Vicarage Road for a fourth round clash tomorrow that has hardly set the pulses races since the draw was made.
And while McCarthy admits there is “no romance” surrounding the all-Championship clash that has not affected his determination to build on last weekend’s league victory over Scunthorpe.
“I’ve no idea when the FA Cup became such a hindrance. It was never like that when I was playing – you went out there and tried to win games. So yes, the Cup is a high priority for us,” he said.
“We’ll be playing the strongest team I can possibly play – it’s not getting in the way of anything for us. The Cup is something we will try and do as well as we can do in.”
The trip to Watford – who snatched a last minute win at Molineux on the opening day – is far from an easy task for Wolves and McCarthy is predicting another battle.
“It is a very tough game for both of us,” he said.
“I said when the game was drawn that there is no magic or romance for us or them in the draw. We’ve not got a minnow who would be looking to upset us and we’ve not got a Premiership giant either.
“I’m expecting it to be more like a Championship game and the tempo which all of our games are played at is almost like a Cup game anyway.”

These are the vaguest and worst directions ever. But near where you get off the Train there is a big pub, with big cark park by the island, not far from the ground, had a great laugh there a few years ago, was summer time though so we was all stood outside. Anyway sorry for poor information, thought it might help a little though, ha. I can’t make this weekend, but have a good one. Got to enjoy away games in the London area. Down to The Flying Scotsman after eh lads.

Does anyone remember when we won 4-1 at Watford in the FA Cup.
I think that was the game where the burger bar serving away fans after the match was recognised as being the one featured on the ‘Cook Report’ the night before. It was run by a complete psycho who was secretly filmed by Roger Cook, which showed him attacking all other burger bar owners with a big axe…to eliminate the competition.
I seem to remember his burger bar receiving some mild playful rocking from the 100s of Wolves fans surrounding him. Maybe the odd ketchup bottle was involved.

Wolvesmod. Dont listen to Terry as he is on hard drugs.
I live in Watford and all pubs are away friendly.
The Flag(next to the station)
Moon under water in the high street and Macs Bar(on way to the ground from the town) all welcome away fans.
After the game may be different as the police close town pubs to disperse the crowds.
By the way, do you know anyone with a spare ticket or else im in the Watford end.

“Mick McCarthy today insisted the FA Cup remains a major priority for Wolves”
I was wondering why our league performances have been mainly crap this season
Striker problem tho, Elliott will be on the wing, thats OK. Eastwood is injured, Blake inelligeable, S Ward injured. Only leaves Keogh and Bothroyd. Obviously Keogh will get a full run out, I hope Bothroyd doesn’t start but would love to see Liam Hughes get a chance. Could be one of those Cup fairytale performances
